Over the past two weeks, I built a pair of scale model pirate ships and arranged them in a high seas battle diorama. The ships are the Flying Dutchman and the Satisfaction of Captain Henry Morgan.

This is also the BHT Patreon art challenge week! The vote landed on "A Pirate's Life for Me" as the theme for November. My patrons submitted some beautiful crafting artwork and a few of them even made videos to accompany their builds. Be sure to check those out!

The foil water technique was learned from @Scaleaton. Go watch his channel for more awesome craft tips!

I would love to see a complete inventory of all your builds. Plus the big question, "Where do you keep them all or do you sell some of them to help finance other builds?"

I love the fact that your pirate battle doesn't occur on a flat calm sea, as so many "experts" depict their ship models upon. I find it unlikely both sailing vessels would have the wind astern on opposite courses.
Your water technique is both simple and awe inspiring!

Okay, every time I see all these models you make I just wonder ONE thing. WHERE DO YOU PUT THEM?! You make so many amazing things that aren't exactly small and you keep making them! How do you store them? How many shelves do you have of display after display? Can we get a tour of all of your models?

But how can the ships be sailing in opposite directions while both still having full sails? These are the questions that keep me awake at night

Anyone notice he said jolly rancher instead of jolly Rodger? 0:06

I wasn't expecting the lights to be from the cannons. I was surprised and said "oooh, that's lit".

It's insane how realistic your work is Boylei! Excellent build, time to go listen to some sea shanties =]

I love the (perhaps unintentional?) implication that the Dutchman is running down her own wind, as opposed to the "actual" wind that the SOCHM is running down. Really adds a level of supernaturalness and I believe (though I might have dreamed this) that there are versions of the myth where the Flying Dutchman sailed with her own supernatural storm always accompanying her and filling her sails so that fits this build well. Seriously well done on the cannons and those red sails too.

the water effect is mindblowing! I've seen realistic water effect before only with the use of Casting Resin. But the tinfoil and the coloration in combination with the ultra-glossy finish is ingenious

The glow that the firing cannons give off, really compliments the whole thing

Great build dude! Only 1 piece of advice when building ship dioramas in the future: make them sit deeper in the water. Right now they look a bit.. floty. The ladder on the side of the dutchman should sit a little above the waterline, so it can actually be used when climbing into rowboats etc. For ships without ladders, its usually at its widest part where the waterline is.

Hey Boylei, you inspired me to design and 3D print the Millennium Falcon as a Christmas Tree topper. I painted it up, weathered it and then added EL wire for the blue engine. I was really impressed with my first attempt at painting models or anything 3d printed.

Another amazing creation. Never apologize for your work not looking as it should compared to the box. They are Your works of art and turn out Just as You want them, Amazing. Thanks for sharing your talent with us, and your other friends works as well.

The light from the cannons illuminating the sails really did it for me. Gives that night raid on the high seas vibe. So freakin cool.

Frankly, I am so enamored with the whole Pirate theme in general, that this build literally brought tears to my eyes. Just beautiful and gorgeous and so well executed. Thank you so much. Thank you also for linking other artists videos, very kind of you to support others. I am going to binge watch more tomorrow, looking forward to it. Just incredibly fabulous work here.

The light from the cannons reflecting on the water is epic. This couldn't have been an easy build, and it's just awesome. Another great job!
