So the bad guys get to use RPG and the cargo ship gets a squirt gun? What's next, a large diameter nerf dart?

Connect the water cannons to the sewage system

Pirates need to be met with extreme force. Heavy firepower....

Those water jets could easily put a pirate's eye out.

Ships not allowed to carry arms for defence is simply ridiculous.

for the people that dont understand the water cannons are basically auto turrets. they fire automatically its not legal to have deadly auto turrets shooting anything that comes in range but u can squirt anything in range with water.. they have guns if they get past the water cannons.

The water cannons are also great because bringing guns into foreign ports can be extremely complicated and a legal headache to deal with. Watercannons avoid this issue.

As far as pirates, they should have the same protections as aircraft. Someone said they can't have firearms because of certain other countries laws against them, airlines have air marshals so ships should be allowed the same & them with the authority to have & use lethal force.

Nothing beats a nice rifle. It's really difficult to climb a ladder when someone is shooting you with an AK or AR-15.

I love the idea of trapping pirate vessels. Then one can properly arrange a meeting with their maker...

You know what is better than a water cannon? A cannon.

"The range on these hoses are impressive"
shows hose barely spraying further than the height of the ship....

I enjoyed the video but it seemed to get distracted from the original subject of fending off pirates when we are informed the most popular method of beating pirates is to run away! Abandoning ship then became the main subject. So, that seems a bit extreme; abandoning a massive ocean going freighter and giving pirates free reign to the ship and its cargo. Is the follow up missing? Namely, a swat team then tries to take the ship back from pirates? I get the feeling there is a whole backstory to be told here - insurance policies on ships that are lost to pirates or simply writing the cargo off as the cost of doing business?

Water jets CAN even cut steel at very high pressure. Just the fact these hoses are 3 times your commercial water pressure plus are large diameter is impressive.
Sure it may not look scary, but the closer pirates would get the worse off they'd be literally hosed and completely knocked out of commission.

Call me old fashion but I say shoot the pirates ships when they first attempt a maneuver to interfere with the ships course, run over smaller pirate vessels. If you can’t sunk their ships disable their engines if they persist shoot the pirates. The ocean goung shipping vessels didn’t start the shit the pirates did.

For the most very nice but I have to point out that this Islandic "Rafnar" at 9:09 type boat isnt new. This kind of rescue boat has been used in Norwegian rescue service since 1882, first designed by Collin Archer in 1872. Ive even sailed with an old rescue boat or "RS" (redningsskøyte) 😁
