God the Father is also the sole source in catholic theology

Hello friend, I am a Greek Melkite Catholic. My question is why we also don't use Filioque in our creed. The one we use is the same as at the council of nicaea. Thank you, my brother in Christ ☦️❤️

At your categorical and didactic best, Jeem. Well delivered and presented.

This is a sematic debate. Both sides agree the spirit proceeds from the father through the son.

Im Catholic. I do fight with this once in a while. But I wouldn't convert just for that reason and there is other parts of the Bible that describe The Father and the son with the same AUTHORITY In a sense. But it's to much for me to focus. At least it's not going to brake my salvation. God bless as always. Love your videos my kind Sr. ⛪️📿📖✝️🫡🙏🏻🕊👍🏻

Cyril of Alexandria's 3rd letter to Nestorius which was accepted at Ephesus teaches the Filioque. At this same council, Theodoret of Cyrrus presented a Nestorian Creed that denounced the Holy Spirit proceeding from the Son, making the Eastern Orthodox Nestorian heretics. The schismatic Greeks also accepted the Papal Bull Laetentur Caeli at Florence affirming the Filioque.

I guess ignorance is bliss amongst greek heretics

The original creed does NOT say the Spirit proceeds from the Father "alone" it's silent on further procession, and the filioque simply expounds upon the statement immediately after procession which says that the Spirit, with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified.

God (Spirit) is love, principally from the Father (lover) and reciprocally from the Son (beloved). God (Father) loves (Spirit) himself (Son). Therefore the Spirit proceeds from the Father in principle and from the son in reciprocation. The Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.

Sounds like polytheism… One God that’s it. Jesus is his word
Holy Spirit is him in us….
One God
God the father is Jesus,
God the father is the Holy Spirit
Jesus is both
Spirit is both

so do you belive the son and father still to be coequal and 1? Or a creator and his creation/prophet

if the Holy Spirit proceeds from or thru the Father & the Son who are one, then how does this leave out the Holy Spirit? per Rev 5:13 all worship to Him on the throne & the Lamb...just as Saint Stephen saw Christ at the right hand of God...to also John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority,  but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Luke 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.' John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away,  the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. these texts amongst others, affirm the Filioque

Thank you, Jeem! But, according to a Protestant I’ve been listening to recently, the problem with this view is that there would be no connection between the Son and the Holy Spirit. Besides this, he argues that the Orthodox Christians never explain what the difference is between proceeding, on the one hand, and being begotten, on the other. Therefore, in this model the Holy Spirit ends up being a kind of “second son”. And I have to admit that, so far, I haven’t found any clear explanation for what these two terms—proceed and being begotten—exactly mean, nor in what way the Son and the Holy Spirit are connected to each other. Could you possibly suggest a good explanation for both of these essential issues? This would be very helpful!

Thank you!

Kind regards,
A.
