Being a tattoo artist is totally amazing. We get to work with people, draw every day, listen to cool music at work, and hang with our amazing crew. We are very privileged to be able to make our living from drawing art on people´s skin. But there is a catch. We do have our negative triggers. And I am going to explain why. I can't imagine being bold enough to tell a tattoo artist to hurry up while they hover over you with a needle 😂

"can i pay you next week?" Yes, if you're getting your tattoo next week.

When it comes to price, I think it’s fair to at least politely request an estimate once a design and size are finalized, even if it’s the artist giving the estimated time for completion with there hourly rate, gives us an idea to have the money ready when we’re there or come back at a later time

My mum took me with her to watch her get a tattoo when i was 10 years old, and I was in love with it all. I sat quietly, watching and memorising everything I saw. Now, 10 years later, I'm getting my first tattoo 😅

“Don’t sleep with pets when your tattoo is healing cuz it might get infected”

Me with a new(ish) tattoo in bed next to my dog: “uh oh”

One of my favourite sayings... “A good tattoo isn’t cheap and a cheap tattoo isn’t good!”

In my situation I asked for pricing just to have an estimate in mind on tattoo pricing. You have to think about the ones getting their first tat that have no clue how much they go for so that that they’re not super surprised on the price

I’ve thought to myself ‘please be almost finished’ with gritted teeth 😂, but no way would I ever say that or have the balls to ask them hurry up. The artist is taking their time for a reason, because they want to be accurate and provide you with an awesome looking tattoo. If it’s getting too painful during a long session, ask for a breather for a few minutes. Most are cool with that. But more than anything, show the artist respect!

Who the hell asks their artist to hurry up?! 😂

Its funny how many people think the art-industry is a free service.

Tattoo pain is therapeutic. I love concentrating on breathing and slowing heart rate. It’s actually pretty healing and relaxing to control the pain.

Lmao my tattoo artist told me (during my first tattoo) “it’s gonna hurt a lot, but you wanna know the good news? It’s not gonna hurt me one bit” 😂😂

So basically be smart, use common sense, and respect the tattoo artist.

Its so sad that you have to say "we don't draw for free". People's art and precious time is not free! Get real!

I literally laughed very loudly at "pay you next week". You would not believe how many times I am asked this in a week. And a walk-in for a sleeve. All of these are spot on!

'Its very difficult to give a price'

No. No it isn't. If you can't give a straight answer to a common sense question something shady is going on. Nobody in their right mind gets anything done, let alone a tattoo without knowing what it costs

Girlll, the "hurry up" thing is the same with makeup. Girls be asking me for a black smokey eye with FULL GLAM and ask me if it can be done in half an hour. Not if u want me to blend sis

‘Can I pay you next week’ I’d be so embarrassed to ever say that, even as a joke. That’s so disrespectful!

And you are gorgeous 💖

I had a tattoo artist do an amazing piece on me that we expected would be a 6 hour sitting. It was done in 4. I still chose to pay for a 6 hour sitting plus tip. To me, it was 6 hours of work regardless of it taking less than that. I've never regretted the money I spent on that tattoo.
