Two video requests. Can you show repairing rotten drywall under a window sill? Also, removing the old coax/phone boxes and patching vapor barrier and drywall. Keep up the videos, they are all excellent.

I just finished replacing 7 fire doors at work. Had to cut out & move the king and jack studs to accommodate new size doors. Let's just say I've got some drywall work to do now, , ,
I'm going to knock it out next week. Really appreciate all of your videos. It really helps to get a refresher course on some of the basic stuff not to mention the new tricks I've gotten. Always a pleasure to see you videos!! 👍👍

I appreciate your quick little lessons. I haven't a clue what I'm doing, so you're teaching me a lot!!

Man. I wish I knew this before I made my small 1 1/2" hole into a huge production.
Thanks for the great tips, Ben!

Holy moly! I wish I would have seen this one week ago. Literally spent all last weekend repairing 4 2-inch holes and it didn’t quite come out as nicely and this would have been a lot faster. Now I know.

Thanks! Your tutorials have helped me bring new life to the poorly installed drywall in my 45 year old house.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve made a bandaid patch since you showed the first time a few years ago. It’s a super great tip Ben

You should really do a live q&a! I have so many drywall issues it’s ridiculous. At least they seem to be issues to me.

Has anyone told you how satisfying it is to watch your work

That method works really good if you use hot mud/ quick set instead of regular premix!!

I am a handyman type that can muddle through most any repair. Got to watching your channel when a roof leak brought down my bath ceiling. Still watching because its somehow fascinating how fluid your movements make the repairs seem easy. 1 thing I dont believe you ever mentioned is drywall thickness. I thought my 1950's house would be all 1/2 in. which all the walls are but the ceilings are 3/8. To save weight and make install easier I assume? Back to the store for me to buy the right size.

Cool vid! I would use mesh tape with quick set 1st to cover the hole then once it dries, do that band-aid patch or just a couple strips of tape on top. 2 coats of topping mud, sand and done. ✔

I use web tape and hot mud. Mud the perimeter as soon as you mix then continue with the rest of your work. Come back just before you clean your tools and mud the center. By this time the mesh should be tight as a drum and ready to fill as thick as you wish. This patch will be stronger than the rest of the drywall and take less time. Never use lightweight ready mix for this because that is the weakest possible patch. Lightweight is for feathering only

ONLY when I do not have spare drywall. I can live with that.

Otherwise I'd use a holesaw to make a californian patch.

great vid. :)

I love how you are fluid with measurement system, a millimeter is technically 1/26th of an inch!

I always think about this. There has to be a way to get mesh on the other side so you can fill to the thickness of the drywall.
