I like to think of it this way:
If we're multiplying 0.14 * 80, I remove the decimal point and do 014 * 80 which is 1120. Now I add back the decimal to 0.14 and count the numbers that follow after the decimal point (in our case, we have 2 numbers after decimal in 0.14). This tells me that we need to leave the last two numbers of 1120 after the decimal point. So 0.14 * 80 = 11.20.
