4:23 was low cut off on dji? It's on by default.

Love this! I would say the DJI Mic 2 has a warmer sound to it, and the Rode Wireless Pro has a brighter sound. Both of them are fantastic mics. It all depends on what you're going for.

Also looking at buying a Sennheiser XS TRRS Lav.

Thank you for testing them with the same lav. The DJI sounds better for me, the Rode is too brittle out of the box and is lacking in the base department. Which is not a problem, you can correct that in post, but that's an extra step. Too bad they don't have the EQ option.

Wow, crazy. Add a Lav and the DJI sounds so lively and crisp.

Honestly I would never use either hanging on me outwardly 😂

Do you have a recommendation between the two if you can only get one based on this test? I like the idea of the locking lab but the touchscreen interface seems so much better on the DJI

Thank you for your presentation. I really don't detect any difference between the Lav mics.

Scott.. Which lav are you using? I've heard some have interference. Thanks. I'm buying a DJI Mic 2 system.

Hey. There is a huge difference between audio recorder directly from TXs, but... there is no difference with Rode Lav. Is it raw audio? Or did you make any EQ in postproduction?

Can you tell me what Rode Lav is it? Version I or II?

If you had a deity THEOS or similar pack I'd love to hear the comparison between a more high end pack vs the pro or mic 2.

So just to make sure I have this correct . All I need is the lav mic and the receiver . I don’t need a transmitter correct ?

I have a dji pocket 3 but I’m trying to make sure I buy the correct stuff and don’t overspend for my set up . I just need one lav and one receiver for solo content . Please correct me if I’m wrong . Thanks

The Rode sounds better - hands down - BUT that lav into the DJI sounds like it'd be usable with EQ in post. I will also say that although the DJI Tx doesn't have a locking connection it also weights next to nothing and is very unlikely to pull free in someones pocket by its own weight. Thanks for this.

Great Comparison video. Thanks!!

I did exact same tests without post editing. Did you apply processing ? The results from my side never resulted pure audio like yours :D

So My concolusion that the DJI Mic 2 with the current firmware is not ready to be used as a standalone mic. It needs a Lav.

Here is the long version :

My consolusion after a very tough comparsion of the 2 mics regarding sound quality!
DJI MIC 2 Firmware version: v04.02.01.13
Røde Mic 2 Firmware version: 1.2.8

1) Using Røde Lav II mic on both units (DJI Mic 2, Røde Wireless Pro) :

-- Noise Cancellation off, No Low cut filter :
Simple! They both almost identical. You will never beleive it. You can't prefer one other the second. They might sound different if you compare them using 2 different LAVs which is not fair.

-- Noise Cancellation On (DJI MIC2) :
Røde Wins 100%.

2) NO LAV on both, RAW audio, No DeadCat wind shield. Both clipped equally on the top of my shirt:
Røde : Better sound quality! Way better than the DJI Mic 2. Of course it depends on your voice and how much is the difference for your voice, but in General from audio samples from others as well, I found the Røde sound quality is more pure and native and fuller

So, Finally: in case you will be using both with LAV, I think you are good to go with the one you prefer more.
- if you care about the nice design and the very handy touch screen and compact case, DJI Mic 2 is the winner.
- If you care about the noise reduction, then DJI is the clear winner.
- If you are going to be hybrid between LAV and without, then the clear winner is the Røde.
- If you are going to use it for street interviews, Røde is the winner again.

If you have any questions, Let me know! :)

Great comparison… I have a feeling DJI will listen and go back to the lab and whip up a DJI Mic 2 PRO and release it next year…🤔

I can't really tell honestly using my phone with good headphones. Oh but the lav mic sounds way better than the rode wireless pro though. But wow. The rode sounds really good as a wireless mic

Im using dji camera thats why dji is better in many way also the price too. The features dji have also have a big advantage in terms of wireless way of recording in 32bit float. Even how good the mic i have, im always tweaking my audio thats why eventhough the rode is way better in terms of quality, i can catch up that audio and the money ive spent is more valued vs the difference in terms of quality.

Forget the Lav mic!

Try plugging the DJI Mic 2 into a SHURE SM7db via XLR to 3.5mm cable and tell me how good it sounds.
