Great update on the DJI Mic 2. I have the Rode Wireless Pro and just bought the DJI Mic 2. I'm loving the DJI for all the reasons you pointed out. One question: I really like the like and subscribe animation you used in your video. Would you share were you got that? Thanks.

Thanks Jevin. Agree the DJI is ahead now, so Rhode is undoubtedly working on their answer. Its like n new camera bodies, everyone is leapfrogging each other. Both sound great and can be adjusted in post. Nice to have options. Curtis Judd uncovered a firmware issue and is working with them to fix it. He typically goes very deep into audio gear. Great review.

I’ve just sent my 2nd Rode Wireless Go 2 back to Rode in 2 weeks due to what appears to be a faulty batch and will be ordering the DJI Mic 2 on the back of this video. Thanks.

Let me play devils advocate - I agree with others Rode sounds cleaner.
For noice cancelling most editing softwares can do that on the fly with you in control instead of baked in.
Changing the volume is also kinda not too much use since you set it once and forget.
Taking one case out of another case and then taking the mics out is not that much better:D
Looks like you're picking up on features that don't really make it that much better of a mic =]
I like that DJI mics are smaller but that also reduces the total battery life to 6h vs DJI 7h - although I tested DJI transmitters without connecting them to the receiver and it lasted for 8h. which is nice for full date shoot - I would actually wish even more :D

And to be clear I had horrible experiences with past Rode wireless mics so I'm not a fanboy o them.
But still decided to try the Pros and one feature I love is that it can start recording on the tx once you take it out of the case - that is a very nifty timesaver for me :)

You make a strong case for getting the DJI Mic 2, those are good reasons. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Is pocket 3 mic actually dji mic 2? Is it possible to be used with other cameras wirelessly or is it only bound to pocket 3?

In a few days we will see the video, 10 reasons why the Rode Mic Pro is better than the DJI Mic 2, The sound of the Rode is better, (I have both) the DJi has some ease of use, but microphones were made to produce sound.

The Rode sounds SO MUCH BETTER. DJI seems to offer everything you could ever want, except GOOD SOUND.

Are you going to make a video how you clean the audio for the DJI mic 2? To sound more clearer?

Sucky thing is that the wind reduction/noise canceling does not work when the Mic 2 is connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone. I believe that's because smartphones do not have such a feature built-in. I have paired the Mic 2 tx to my Insta360 X3 (which has Wind Reduction for even the built-in mics) and got it to work that way. So the only way to get noise Reduction when using a smartphone is to use the Mic Rx

I prefer the receiver ergonomics from the DJI, but I find that the Rode sounds much better. I also find the DJI noise canceling makes the sound, sound, well somewhat artificial, well, even less good. But then again, I agree with you on the shape of the DJI mics, it’s much more pleasing than the larger Rode square shape. I prefer the Rode box which offers a direct data connection to the two mics.
Damn, can’t they both work together and deliver us a set of mics which bring us the best of both worlds 😂

I wish you would have done a comparison not sponsored by DJI (or RODE) - would have been more valuable to the viewer

I’m so sick of sponsored “gear reviews.” It’s getting harder and harder to find honest reviews but, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter does it? Most gear is damn good aside from very specific use cases.

You should say about Intelligent noise cancelling of DJI Mic 2 cannot be enabled when the transmitter is connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Controls on the receiver would be the only reason for me. I think the Rode sounds better. For just $50 more ($399) Rode includes 2 lav mics. Thankfully there is compeition now between both (and other) brands that will ultimately be a benefit to the consumers.

That Bluetooth and noise cancelling did it for me. The quality might not feel as rich as dji m1, but for what i need it, its fine 👌

Yeah, I think the DJI mics sound terrible in comparison 😅 Plus, the best way to use these mics is internal recording with 32bit float, and sync the audio and post. So all the receiver bells and whistles don’t really matter, and I think Rode takes the win here; plus, you can close the Rode case with the windscreen still on 👍 Thx for the comparison!
