Tomatoes are the fourth most commonly consumed fresh vegetable and the most frequently consumed canned vegetable in the American diet. There is emerging epidemiology data supporting the connection between increased tomato consumption and reduced risk for both cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer.
Here we will summarize the nutrient and the phytochemical content of tomatoes and tomato products, and how these bioactive components might act together to modulate disease development.
Recent animal studies have investigated tomatoes, lycopene, and prostate cancer using the N-methyl-N-nitrosourea and Dunning rat models.
These animal studies also suggest that diets containing tomatoes may decrease the risk or the progression of prostate cancer. Due to the frequency and the extent of tomato consumption, the supporting epidemiological and animal data, which connect increased intakes with decreased cancer and cardiovascular disease risk, tomato's role in the American diet is of undeniable importance as part of a healthy diet.

Great video & explanations but it's so vague on diet. How do you decrease your cholesterol, LDLs and triglycerides? By eating less meat (saturated fat & cholesterol) and diary (saturated fat) and eating more fiber (removes cholesterol from your body), antioxidants (fight off toxins) and unsaturated fats (lower your LDLs and raise HDLs) in the form of plants. Beans, lentils, oatmeal, whole grains, vegetables and fruits can significantly lower your LDLs, cholesterol and blood lipids as well as preventing diabetes. Plaques start to form in our arteries when we are just children because the Western diet is heavily based on meat/dairy and processed grains.

My uncle had heart disease from last 4 years. He took medicines from everywhere but no relief was found. Then he took Ayurvedic medicine from Chandigarh Ayurved Centre. Now he is feeling good. Thanks

I had a myocardial infarction ( heart attack) at 46 in 2018. I think that for women it should be reviewed sooner for Cardiovascular disease.

Thank you so much for explaining this. Now I better understand what my father is going thru. And a risky surgery and outcome does not look good. 😔

All good thankyou except we are finding that Total Cholesterol and LDL serum levels are not relevant. Triglycerides and low HDL are!

I am 27, african and have a very high level of LDL and triglycerides. Even though I don't smoke on a daily basis, is there an alternative to smoking cigarettes as stress relief ?
