Sure, there can be multiple styles of (secondary) brawling to add some variety, it is when one option is just phenomenally better than the rest that creates an issue.

For a BB line that seems to pride itself on its secondaries, I find it odd that not 1 German BB is in the top 10 for secondary DPM, including Schlieffen. Couple that with terrible dispersion. Thank god Preussen has a fast reload. Consider yourself lucky if 2 shells hit beyond 10 km.

The GK/Preussen are a pretty large and clumsy target

All this has already happened - and will happen again

Saying GK is still relevant in 2024 is just pure copium at this point. GK isn't even good in rank, brawling mode anymore. It's a piece of turd

Me crying with my emotional support KMS Bismarck:

I just realized this. _Of course_ it would be the Pan-American ships that would be like the Germans.

Here’s how you make Germany great again give them dual shell secondaries (HE & AP) buff their range and accuracy buff their main gun dispersion to Wisconsin levels and if WG can ever untangle their spaghetti code use German BBs as the test beds for player controlled secondaries

I'm gonna fence sit here a little. Main line German BBs aren't as weak as a lot of people make them out to be, and the Pan-American BBs aren't as strong as people make them out to be. Let me put this into a bit of perspective. This will be absolute raw DPM, so not entirely accurate to in game but;
Preussen Full Secondary - 300k Main gun AP DPM - 817k secondary DPM (Entirely pens 32mm)
GK Legendary Upgrade - 350k Main gun AP DPM - 769k secondary DPM (Entirely pens 32mm)
Libertad Full Secondary - 280k Main gun AP DPM - 867k secondary DPM (614k pens 59mm, 253k pens 21mm)

The Pan-American line is what happens when you get a line that gives up main guns for secondaries, the German main line are hybrid ships, kind of always have been, and were made solidly into hybrid ships when their dispersion pattern was made into the American line's pattern and they were all given a solid 1.8 sigma. Libertad being 1.7 sigma and standard BB reload, basically meaning with a full secondary build this is a T10 with the accuracy of Massa with the main guns. They are going to miss a lot of shells, and for as good as the damage from the secondaries is, if your main guns can't carry their weight, it's not gonna help much.

The only thing I can say is, in a straight up 1v1 I would imagine Libertad winning, purely because of those 234mm secondaries making a lot of the German armour redundant. While the Libertad's 51mm of armour does shatter all of GK or Preussen's secondaries. Meaning unless you can get directly in front or directly behind Libertad you aren't doing anything with your secondaries. Good thing the game isn't 1v1s eh?

I don't think the Germans have been power crept, they just don't fill the role everyone wants them to. I've also learned in my time playing WW2 era games, a lot of people have this myth in their heads that the Germans had the best everything, so anything less than the Germans being THE BEST at what ever their gimmick is, makes people angry. Bit of a reality check to those who think like that. Germany kind of lost the war. If their kit was SO much better than everyone else, they wouldn't have lost.

By that same token Libertad isn't as good as people are currently making her out to be, and I can't see the ship eating nerfs. Unless it's to undo the pre-release buff she got just before the patch went live. She still has a lot of superstructure to eat HE, has a very vulnerable bow, a very vulnerable cit, fairly meh guns, the only real upside being the secondaries. She's going to be the best at secondaries, one of the most situational weapons in the game. Not saying the line doesn't look fun, but it's not going to replace the Germans in anything other than the posistion of being "the best secondary boats", though even that's yet to be seen because these ships have JUST released. Give it 6 months then we can really have any level of "Libertad replaced the Germans!" talk.

Just picked up tier 9 it plays well in ops...and then the tier 10 is unlocked cant wait, love the permanent camo kind of looks like native American on the ship skin I love It horses and Indian looking designs, I love this native American looking ship.. Tier ten has a large Condor on the front area on the side of ship, and in the middle of ships and Mountains i love this ship glad I got early access just the tier 9 ship and both skins, cant afford 20, 000 on top of that.

I will award you an A grade in coping for how much you manage to underplay how strong Libertad is, and how much you overestimate the German BBs

The only thing wrong with German bbs is to they give a lil more love on dispersion for the main battery and the secondaries cut that 45 second build up in half that's my opinion

When i first started playing wows i kinda categorized every nation in what they are in my eyes known for. That still holds true to me. Japan was overall known to me for having high offensive power and accuracy but weak defenses. Germany was known for its consistancy across the board when it comes to a multitude of roles/gameplay and damaging. Every ship can damage everything reliably and/or tank a decent amount when needed. America was known for having good utility and overall the most efficiency through all classes. Soviet was known for tanking through almost all classes. France was known for weak armor but absurd fire power throughout all ships. Uk was known for their dot prowes and consistancy through damage in general and high sustain but weaker armor. These statements are still kinda true if you look at many ships from those nations from the past 5 years. Something like a schlieffen is still very constistent when it comes to dealing damage to everything. Libertad is just an entirely different approach. Its not really the same thing.

I spent half the video saying, "That is a very weird Libertad... Why do it look like that." Then you said GK and I realized... I smart noodle I swear.

Not thinking ahead. If players can't think ahead, then they get into predicaments. When they get into predicaments, they blame the ship. The Libertad is better suited to deal with those predicaments in short bursts. There used to be a lot more subtlety in WGs ship design back in the day.

I keep my Bismarck specifically for tier 8 brawls and it still does well.

All i want is an accurate, hard hitting german BB😢
We don't have a single one of those, just ridiculous

Thanks for the video again SLM. I still think GK is good, despite all the negativity! I guess my view is a bit skewed because I play far more ranked and brawls than randoms. Many German ships excel in these. Got Prinz Eugen in a free recruiting officer container last month! Brilliant ship for brawling.

One other thing: my Ohio would like to register its disagreement with the statement 'Libertad is difficult to citadel through the stern'!
