Wow, this is soo true. I've used the same technique with kijiji. Students should definitely target team member positions with small businesses who can pay them for their time and allow them to do their marketing for free. Also creating identifiable and quantitative achievements & asking your employer to be your reference. Then put everything in your online portfolio and publish it. I did all this to land an internship next semester. Still searching, I hope to find one soon :)
