Why Did God Create The Devil?

God created angels to have free will so the devil chose to turn against God

Due to God's perfect spiritual system, even the works of evil ultimately serve the greater good, since through its own failings and unfruitfulness, evil proves that only that which is good will flourish and that God's law is perfect. Each and every single work of the devil is destined to collapse, and thus God will prove to the devil and to all of creation why all evil things will not flourish; that they will be cut down and burnt up.

Giving me faith and clarity. Loved what you said In the beginning. With choice there must be good and bad. I often sit and blame and yell at God for why things are so horrible in life and why evil is allowed to oppress us as it does . Yet we pity ourselves when we willfully turn our back and sin. He gave us free will and we choose, chose so bad that he sent Christ to lead us from our sins and die for us. Willful sin can also cause us to forfeit his hedge of love, protection and blessings. I put my armor back on and sought him out reading psalms and the book of mark and john. We cannot do good works alone. Man is bad inherently. It's Christ in us that does good.

Really great question...The Bible also mentions that there are MANY DEVILS...Perhaps the "flesh" is the Devil...Life is the drug test...It all boils down to Free Will (to seek/choose/fear our Creator & desire His Promise...or reject altogether & choose our own glory & throne...& forever be tormented & unsatisfied).

He created Lucifer and Lucifer thought more of himself than his creator. When he was banished to Earth for his betrayal he was the called Satan/devil.

It's important to God that we ALL have free choice..He doesn't want robots, he wants his children to accept and love him as he loves us.
