How do transmission lines work

Mostly we only recognize pylons and cables when we see a transmission line. Our new film explains what is going on between the pylons and what happens when the lightning strikes.

This video in no way explains how anything works. It's a corporate promotional video.

I am an ex power engineer, this is a PR video for children.

LOL. This didn't explain how transmission lines work at all.

Presented very well and interestingly.

I was hoping for a discussion on transmission line theory, technologies, and management of problems (such as reactive power, and line losses). Not much use really, and certainly NOT a description of "How do transmission lines work".

1:18 - Isolators. Please remake the audio track and change 'isolators' to 'insulators'. (This will prevent people who do all their learning from the internet making embarrassing statements when discussing transmission lines).

Apparently triangle wires makes a circuit. I wonder if they know what 3 phase is 🤔

precise, interesting, easy to understand presentation

It's need to step down at low voltage it can be directly drawn from high tention the next step is to have a substation at 220/33 kva.

In the United States of America we use large electrons. 50HertzTransmission uses "small electrons" so it takes twice the voltage at the consumer unit.

Well, over 4 decades in the business and never once have I call an insulator an isolator. Where I’m from they’re called towers, not pylons. You’re statement about triangle configuration is also misleading, every 230 Kv and 500 Kv structure I’ve worked have verticle construction. Lower transmission and subtransmission voltages such as 34.5 Kv, 69 Kv, 115 Kv, may be in either configuration. Btw, your video didn’t explain how transmission circuits work, just a slick advertisement.

How about the low voltage line?
I see them go into street lights, but why are they connected to the rope that holds the pole?

I wanted to know if there is three phase then why are there more than three transmission lines and you explained that and thanks for that....

It´s the same principle with 60Hz, isn’t it?

electrons flow over the surface in ac, you have shown it inside conductor cross sectional area

What a great arguement for point of use generation.

Is there any neutral lines up there as well?
