Didn't know power lines could do that. Spectacular.

It’s called phase to phase. Each phase is at a different potential so if they come together it creates an arc. Huge reason why working on and moving 3 phase wires is incredibly important to keep them from getting together.

Those power lines need greater physical separation from each other so that they aren't as apt to arc like that and create power outages.

We had a crazy storm last night, and I noticed a couple times where the sky lit up with a green flash that I originally thought was lightning, but I noticed it lasted a couple seconds longer than the normal white lightning. I read online it could’ve been a power flash from something getting struck by either high winds or lightning, which your video just confirmed. Crazy stuff!

Reminds me of the time I saw lightning strike a utility pole and cause it to arc over in Los Angeles, CA. Basically we just arrived there and were waiting for our rental car when all the sudden I hear this huge bang that was as loud as being close to a professional firework display shell going off up close, which kinda startled me, but then I look up and see and hear the bright orange, green, and blue electrical arcing from the power lines. I was quite impressed that I could kinda feel the buzzing of the arc in my body a bit although it was nowhere near as loud as that bang from the thunder clap which I didn’t feel in any way at all unlike fireworks which rattle my whole body from a mile away

Funny the building in the background goes dark and after arcing lights are on again, don't know if distribution switched back on or if some sort of backup system booted up there.

It's cool that the sign in the background turns off when it happens and turns back on a few seconds after the arc stops.

A few months ago, I parked my car and sat for a while waiting for a heavy rain to end. There was lightening everywhere and striking close. The power lines right above my car power flashed. I had no idea what happened, I thought my car was struck by lightning. It was definitely that.

Last week I was coming home from seeing Dune 2 with my cousin and it was storming and we saw three giant green flashes. Lit up everything green for a mile. It was nuts.

Use high power AM can short the three phase power lines to line by change one phase from the other then they arc

If that's a 3 phase idk what I encountered a million phase I live on a corner where theirs 4 houses on each corner this thing happend across the street from me behind someone's house in it came all the way too my front yard luckily this house is pushed farther back but I'd say it was about a 150+ft arc that touched ground and it sounded like a giant balloon popped or louder then a weapon firing that's forsure it shook the house I felt it in my body even the vibration it was crazy
