I faced bashing in my home the most for being fat, l was humiliated in every family circles and friends circles. I have also gone through days while food was made for maid in home while l was left in my room and was not called for the food...and many thrashing and threatening and now l don't talk to my mother and l hate her from the deepest of my heart. I am so indifferent now that even her absence won't affect me anymore

There are only 2 persons whom I hate in this world -

1. My mom
2. My dad

Kudos to parents who bring up their children with love and teach them valuable lessons of life. But understand that this is a privilege. Not many children have supportive parents. There is a lot of emotional and physical violence in some households and their children grow up with trauma.

You need to be mentally strong to deal with Indian Parents, if you suffer from any kind of trauma, their is very little chance they can help you pull through, you have to fight your battles on your own.

I don't know is it ok to say that some parents are too toxic they don't even help their children is most needy situation and even verbal abuse them to lowest. I am good student from school to my current college years with good in academics but they never gave me anything which i deserve and call me failure . When I came home from my hostel they literally fighting each other and give me mental trauma everytime situation is even worse when i study at home they literally blame me for everything and when i do workout and physical sports they tease me 😭 due to this i left playing basketball, cycling and running .... I don't know and tell this to comment section how much i hate my life .. even they compare me with children who are not near me by my standards....

M sorry but feels like its just showing the positive out look .. Same Indian mentality ..Just because you keep the child all your life doesnt mean you did good . We have always been taught to understand our parents hide and gulp it but the amount of trauma that some people go through can not be denied . If we had social services against child abuse strong in India m sure so many parents will be sued

They are definitely enmeshed family systems. Your feelings, thoughts, goals and aspirations should be your own instead of continuing to raise children who arent allowed to have their own identities.
Kids shouldn’t be a parents retirement fund. That worked for arranged marriages back in the day where nuclear families were not a thing.
Kids should also be allowed to express emotions and be nurtured and validated.

My parents cared plenty and I grew up in the west. They doted on me and made many sacrifices for me but they made sure I wasn’t burdened or guilted and that they set me up to have wings to fly and follow my dreams. That’s what parents should do. Say I love you, stop pushing the goal post on your children, don’t emotionally stunt them. Stop caring so much about what society thinks. Think about the human you made the decision to bring into this world and own that responsibility. They shouldn’t be indebted to you for life if you actually care about them

Desi parents are good.. rather most of them are best... they may be strict but they stand by you and support you like a wall... this is nonsense to brand and generalise such a diversified society..
