John MacArthur: DID JESUS VISIT HELL?

Показать описание
Dr. John MacArthur is—far and away—America’s greatest Bible teacher. In 2015, I had a burning desire to understand what the Bible really meant, however, everywhere I searched, all
I found was grossly undereducated men who called themselves “preachers” or “pastors” who were chiefly interested in:
1. Making money
2. Gaining popularity
3. Spreading a false gospel

It was quite obvious to me they had very little Biblical knowledge.

MacArthur, on the other hand, has a vast knowledge of the Bible and goes to great pains to explain it so articulately. I can honestly say that he changed the direction of my life. I am forever grateful to find such a wonderful teacher. Therefore, I’ve created this YouTube channel in order to propagate his accurate and thorough Biblical teachings.

Here you will find a wealth of information on virtually any subject in God’s Word. You can search by scripture, Books of the Bible, or keywords.

MacArthur is not focused on making money, unlike many false Christian preachers today. You can download his sermons for FREE! Just click on this link to go directly to his sermons.

I pray that God blesses you with a deeper understanding of the Word of God!

“And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again AT THE LAST DAY.”

“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up AT THE LAST DAY.”
{John 6:39-40}

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up AT THE LAST DAY.”
{John 6:44}

“Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up AT THE LAST DAY.”
{John 6:64}

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's *at his coming*

Part 2 of 2.
Jesus burned in hell.

(Rightly divide the word of truth and learn the meaning of this cup to be the cup of indignation poured without mixture in the lake of fire):

Luke 22:
[41] And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
[42] Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
[43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
[44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Revelation 14:
[10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
[11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Job 30:
[27] My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.
[28] I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.
[29] I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.
[30] My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.
[31] My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Hebrews 13:
[11] For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
[12] Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Jonah 2:
[1] Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
[2] And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
[3] For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
[4] Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
[5] The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
[6] I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Deuteronomy 32:22-25 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
[23] I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. [24] They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
[25] The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

Jonah 2:
[7] When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
[8] They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
[9] But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
[10] And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Psalm 16:10
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Acts 2:27
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

There is no paradise in hell.

The word Hades in this case just refers to the grave. Jesus visited the thief in paradise (heaven) then went to hell to rebuke the demons celebrating his death.

Where is the full sermon for this particular post?

jeffmiller

It certainly is a possible term for the Grave. “Hades is the state in which all the dead exist. In the New Testament a descent to Hades may simply refer to someone's death and disembodied existence”

I have a problem with the idea that people instantly go to heaven upon their death. What about this verse that says people aren't in heaven directly after death.
First the dead in Christ will arise and then those who are alive and remain will be caught up to meet them in the air. Also there is only 1 wedding ceremony. And you can't get into heaven until the ceremony begins. So you do not go to heaven, you lay in your grave and wait until we are called all at once to go to the wedding marriage and that appointed time is known only to God.

Very interesting...because Jesus still hadn't ascended to the Father yet when Mary met Him the morning of His resurrection. Punctuation was added to scripture much later, which can (and did) change the meaning of Jesus telling the thief on the cross:
"Verily I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise"
Should have been:
"Verily I tell you today, you will be with Me in Paradise."
The first lie Satan told was the idea of an immortal soul at death ("you shall not surely die"). Eve believed it. Most Christians believe the devil today, too.
The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is taken as a literal truth, instead of a parable which is what it is. There are a lot of parables before that one being told. The religious people of that day (which is who Jesus spoke to), told this story in reverse, where the rich man went to Heaven because he was obviously "Blessed by God" and they said the poor beggar was cursed. Jesus flipped this story on them to show them that they were caring nothing for the poor, as they should be doing. He said ANGELS will carry the beggar (He even named the beggar in the parable).
If we are told in the Bible 66 times that the dead are asleep and know nothing, and we are told in Thessalonians that the dead so not rise until the return of Jesus (which will be a world wide audible, visible, and very un-secret return)...then maybe we should start wondering where all the traditions we follow and what mainstream Christianity beliefs we have actually came from. The Bible says the veil was torn, we don't need a priest to intercede for us now because Jesus is our High Priest and intercessor. Hebrews tells us He is in the Heavenly Sanctuary interceding for us. The Bible doesn't teach a sprinkle or pour for baptism, but it says full immersion. The Bible says the Sabbath is the 7th day, but how many churches follow the Catholic 1st day of the week? There are people awaiting the rebuilding of a 3rd temple, when Jesus became our passover lamb and now we don't need to make animal sacrifices. Jesus is coming soon! Please study your Bible and get to know our loving Creator before it is too late. ❤️ Jesus paid it all for you and me. He gives us each breath we take. He is worthy of our worship, and when/how/etc. He wants that worship.

ALRIGHT... let's tidy things up, shall we?

HADES: Greek God of the Underworld. ''Hades'' is a person, not a place. During the Hellenistic period, the PERSON became synonymous with the PLACE. That's how the term is being used in the Gospels.
TORMENTS: The region in the Underworld where those who had committed the most heinous of crimes were sent after death. The Nordic word ''Hell'' was transposed onto this place. Hence, the common idea that Satan is in Hell. (He isn't, by the way. Satan roams the Earth along with his demons, looking for souls to corrupt. It is those 200 or so ''Watchers'' who kept not their first estate, but descended to Earth and took wives of all they chose from the Daughters of Men... and so brought about the Nephilim, who had to be destroyed in the Flood... that are kept in chains of everlasting darkness in Torments.)
SHADES: The region of the Underworld where most people ended up after Death. There, there was no talking, no laughing, no... anything! Just 'being' in a state of nothingness.
ELYSIUM / ELYSIAL FIELDS: The region of the Underworld where those who had lived most nobly were sent after death. Here, there was feasting, joy and ease; a place of restful bliss. Because the 'fields' were beautiful like a garden, it attracted the Persian word for 'garden' - ''paradise'' - to identify the pleasant aspects of the place.
SHEOL: The Hebrew word for the GRAVE
GEHENNA: A place outside Jerusalem where rubbish was burned up. The city dump, so to speak. This real-live-on-Earth place became synonymous with the region of the Underworld, most comparable with Torments.

The FIRST Heaven: The Sky, where birds fly.
The SECOND Heaven: The stars, constellations, galaxies, etc. In short, the Universe beyond the Earth
The THIRD HEAVEN: The place outside the Universe, where God 'exists'.

The Celestial City - The New Jerusalem. Here... I offer only MY opinion. I have it that the New Jerusalem is a specifically PHYSICALLY REAL construction inside the Physical Universe, that Jesus made - and is making - where He will dwell during the Church Age and to which all Saints (Believers in Christ) of all ages will be translated at the time of the ''catching up'' as spoken of by Paul in the Epistle to the Thessalonians. It is this city which will come into Earth's Orbit prior to the Tribulation and will remain there during the Tribulation and thence into the Millennium.

When Jesus died on the cross, he went first to the most horrible part of hell to pay the price for us. On the third day, the Spirit of God broke Him free, and Jesus then went to Paradise, which is where the Old Testament saints were and preached the Gospel message to them. Those that accepted His message were taken to Heaven. Those that rejected His message, were emptied into the belly of hells worst.
