In this video, Dr. Berg talks about how to get into ketosis and the confusion that comes along with it. The type of ketones that is most accurate to test is the blood ketones – urine and breath ketones are good to test if you are just starting out because the ketones on this are not being metabolized or broken down.

Ketone Test
• Blood Ketones
• Urine Ketones
• Breath Ketones

What is Ketosis?
Ketosis is a condition where your body is creating ketones for fuel. Ketones are the byproduct of fat burning and it only represents 40% of fat and 60% are fatty acids. It is a combination of ketones, fatty acids, and a very small percentage of glucose which can be created by the liver from the fat and protein that you consume. Ketosis is a state where it has to be created by lowering your carbohydrates.

Exogenous Ketones
If you are going to take straight ketones, you are NOT going to lose weight because your body’s stored fat is not being tapped into. You are basically taking ketones as fuel so your body doesn’t have to use your own ketones and fat.
Two situations where Dr. Berg recommends taking exogenous ketones:
1. If you are a long-distance runner who wants extra energy.
2. Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, very frail and you don’t have a lot of fat to burn.

Ketosis Indications
• Reduced hunger
• Reduced cravings
• Increased energy
• Improved cognitive function
• Stable mood

I'm down 32 pounds in 5 weeks, I'm doing the 18 6 intermittent fasting also. I started the fasting 3 weeks in, basically I skip breakfast, eat a small lunch and eat enough at dinner so I'm feeling full. Usually it's no problem with minor hunger pains if any at all around 930 am.

Can you do a video that talks about the effects of chronic anxiety and how it chronically pushes you out of therapeutic Ketosis, regardless of eating strictly healthy keto and or fasting. This is something I had to deal with for keto to work. It stopped me gaining weight but I was still hungry all the time and couldn’t let food go. Once I found the final end to my chronic anxiety keto works like a dream.

I absolutely love this lifestyle! I’ve lost 30lbs since January 6th, and still going. I feel amazing! I’ve just started to implement IF, and have not started exercising yet. Thank you Dr. Berg, you’ve educated me so much, and I’m helping my family members with heart disease and diabetes now! Forever grateful to you❤️

The answer is yes, yes, yes, and yes! I was following a keto lifestyle just a year and a half ago and remember having such great success. Well stress got the best of me and I lost my way, but I found my way back and I am again just blown away at how easy keto makes life and health. I feel energized and super relaxed after exercise and before bed. My mood is super joyful and my cravings are gone. It seriously feels euphoric and self-discipline feels easier than ever (and I've always struggled with this). I can easily resist carbs, alcohol, and even keto junk food that I used to allow myself to have. And it's easy to monitor my fat intake so I don't over indulge in the cheese or add extra bacon for breakfast. I'm just enjoying feeling lighter and healthier everyday. And I love watching these videos almost daily for motivation and learning new things.

Thanks Dr. Berg. Loving the haircut😊. We have a ear friend with diabetes. He's been holding off going to injections and has been managing his diabetes with mainly exercise and very little sugar, but, now his doctor says he really needs to go on Metformin😯. He's pretty skinny and really does not want to loose any wait. Is there anything you can suggest - reading material, videos, etc. that could further educate us on this issue. Thanks so much for your care & dedication😄. Sandy
