Repair Install InPlace Upgrade Windows 10

By definition, it will not replace the Desktop Apps you installed. But, will keep the apps and User Data that came with Windows. From my experience, it does keep some Desktop apps though, it did for me anyway.

Will this delete current or any additional drivers I’ve installed as well? The reason I’m asking is because when I got this PC with windows 10 on it my older HP printer was super difficult to find the driver. Took me almost a full day to get my printer up and running and to find/install the driver.

If I understand you correctly instead of trying to create a System Image all we have to do is download the W10 .ISO and either put it on a USB (and mount it) or have it on the desktop and we will be able to do a repair install in place saving our settings.

is there a way to do this without booting? accidently closed pc during an update and now ssd can't boot. I have a 2. drive. Can I use this setup from hdd to reinstall the windows 10 in ssd?

Unfortunately, after many tries, including using a Clean Boot to start from, it didn't work for me. I always get stuck at 48% after the first time it restarts. I get 0 - 100% complete, then it restarts and starts counting from 0% again, up to 48% when the PC freezes. I tried USB and ISO. I'll probably have to do the full refresh. I'm stuck on 1909 18353.1316 and cannot get later updates (after Jan 2020). I thought this was up to date information, but this video is over 6 years old. Your website where I found it is dated Jun 2021. Things have obviously changed in the last 6 years. The update progress screens are completely different too.

Essenbe, I am grateful for the tutorial that you produced. It was very easy to follow and instructions were precise. Unfortunately, while the major part of the repair was going, I was helping with making dinner, didn't notice that I got another BSOD during the install. For the last several weeks I have been plagued with a variety of BSOD and random crash and restarts. I have no idea at what point the BSOD occurred, but thankfully, I was able to restart and back to usual start and Windows operation. I have no idea if windows reverts back to as before, after power outage or BSOD, while installation or some of the installation was successful. It still is acting poorly. This is my 2nd attempt of writing my question, for windows crashed and restarted. It froze a few times while using the browser, needing to do a hard restart. Should I attempt another Upgrade? What did I do to the computer? The latest Win10 would not give me the option to download drivers, and did so, but it seemed to work out. I couldn't figure out how to stop McAfee, but it seemed to work out. Any input from you or others will be most appreciated.

I seem to be in an endless loop of update, scan, download fails.new updates fail repeated, sfc /scannow fails- none of the fixes worked, want to repair but iso doesn't match the last version that would download. Need one to fix the other but W10 just keeps making it all too complicated if when anything gets a hiccup. i suppose that's why so many switch to apple.

Hi, my windows 10 is still stuck on version 10240 which is a very outdated build and I cannot get it to update, I've tried everything, can somebody help?

It's s Windows 10 on that HDD. You think this tutorial would help. I tried everything on BIOS but no help from there. I even tried inserting a windows 7 recovery disk but no help there. You think I lost my files. I am worried that I lost my files. :(

Ugh fu**ing hell of COURSE you can't do a repair of the OS when the OS isn't booting (AKA NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED), of course the option to "repair" is only available when the OS DOESN'T need to be repaired..
