Potting Doubles in Pool | Pool School

In this video we look at how to pot doubles in pool. We look at how to line up the shot and work out the angles to enable us to pot a ball off a cushion. We also look at the possible dangers with cross doubles and the double kiss.

The shots are carried out on a 7ft UK 8 ball table.

Great instruction, thanks for sharing! In American pool, we're subjected to many different formulas utilizing various diamond systems and many are over complicated creating more confusion than clarity. The angle in, angle out concept is simpler and easier to understand while being very reliable.

A good trick I've learnt to aid this is if the ball is a risk of double kissing you can aim wider and use check side to impart spin on the object ball to shorten the angle.

I imagine a ‘ghost’ table next to the table and just try pot the ball into the ghost pocket opposite to the one you are aiming for. If that makes sense?

I think this is good advice I suspect I know what the answer is but all these doubles are into the middle pocket which is exactly how I try to play too is that because doubles into corners tend to leave you playing either full table length or into an incredibly narrow angle?

One tip for banks (I just prefer American terminology, sorry :)) : try to practice and use straight line bank shots whenever you can. It is quite remarkable how much outside angle can vary from very low speed bank to very high speed bank on the same exact angled shot. And with the straight bank you depend just on the speed and totally eliminate the throw effect. On a straight bank in the side pocket like the first one in the video you can get more than half a diamond more of length with slow speed.

Doubles are my last resort i'd rather cut a ball in or roll down the cushion then play a double as you are relying on the cushions and when playing in a pub the cushions are hardly ever decent.
