The lean back is the last thing you'd want to do. Unless you're Floyd you have no business trying to pull this off. I bet you lean back...drop your hands ... just like you did ...and get knocked the f out as soon as they follow that hook up with a straight right...or a longer hook. Get real lads... Keep Your Hands Up, chin down, and ass off the floor

After 20 years of boxing, I've learned that the best way to defend a hook is to turn around and run away.

Sorry if you've done a vid on this already, but tutorial / tips on how to see shots coming and learning to predict punches would be awesome

I feel this would be an awful idea if you were the shorter fighter

Never lean back… roll left/right body hook, hook

Blocking is the hardest but also the best for counting

I don't get why yall hating. Leaning back is definitely safer than rolling or blocking. & No it doesn't take a professional to do this, I see it all the time in street fights

The first two he showed is the proper way to defend a hook. This guy trying to get you knocked out leaning back is the worst thing you can do especially with a straight right coming behind it

cool. can you do a tutorial on a proper lean back?

If you don't lean back far enough, you catching it. If you don't roll deep enough, you catching it. Either way, get the hell out the way

I’ve been working on the lean back kind of intuitively. Perhaps do a video breaking down the counterpunch you added. The footwork, how to properly lean back, etc....edited to add your channel is top notch! Thank you!

coach, how do I know if a straight or a hook is coming? I find it so hard to distinguish the the two while trying to duck away

To be fair all 3 is right, I prefer leaning back and pivoting because that's what I'm most comfortable doing though

What if i block hook with the elbow? Is that legal in boxing?

Lean back is dangerous. Everyone of those defense techniques is good as long as you don't get hit.
You forgot about the shoulder roll. I know it's best for straight punches but it works for hooks too if you angle it right.

1st two were correct. Not sure why there's a question mark. The pull back works well, but generally new boxers do that. They usually lift their chin, and get hit.
