I did notice that most of the smaller olive oil bottles in my local Safeway grocery store are sold in green bottles, so it does fool you with the olive oil color. I used to get olive oil, both virgin and not, in big metal cans. So far, the olive oil in it was green and clear. Will it be costly (expensive) to try out brands before knowing which one is good enough or authentic enough? Because we have to buy each one before we could open the seals and actually pour out the oil to test its clarity, color, and consistency. The ones in Dollar Store, however, are just the "pomace" as said in the label. When I looked it up, I found out that pomace is what is left over after pressing all the oil from the olives and after shipping them out. The manufacturers were trying to make money of what should have been discarded, so I never even touched the olive pomace oil again. This video is a very good tip. Thank you for sharing. :)

Chef Tony, For what i know, The color of olive oil is NOT an indicator of its quality or flavor. Color is determined by the ripeness of the olives at harvest; unripe, green olives create green-hued oil and ripe, purple-black olives produce golden-toned oil. Flavor is determined by several factors, including olive ripeness, type of olive (varietal), soil quality, climate, irrigation practices and milling techniques. It's not cool to tell people things that are not right

Perhaps, but glass doesn't have to be colored green to filter out UV. I believe even clear glass can be made to filter UV, as far as I know.

Sometimes they put it in a dark green bottle. I guess that's to fool you into thinking it's good quality olive oil. I got some olive oil yesterday using Chef Tony's advice and I did a taste test with the other brand. Hands down the olive oil I picked was so much better. It had twice the flavor of the brand I used to get.
