How to remove oil and grease stains:

1.) Check the care label to determine if your garment is washable. If your garment is dry clean only, do not attempt at home remedies or proceed with caution.
2.) Before washing, mix up a solution of one cup of lukewarm water and 1/2 teaspoon of dish detergent (not laundry detergent, we like Dawn). Or pretreat directly with dish soap, laundry detergent pinesol, or WD40 (only use if you're in big trouble!)
3.) Apply this solution to the stain site and allow to sit for 15 minutes.
4.) Wash as normal or instructed by the care label.
5.) If the grease/oil stain did not come out, do not dry!
6.) Try the procedure above again and if this doesn’t work.
7.) Only dry once oil and grease sauce stain has been fully removed.
8.) Your oil and grease stain is removed!

Wife of a mechanic and all around handy man here, I've got a trick for you.
Make a paste of dish soap and baking soda...the soap breaks it down, the soda pulls it from the fabric fibers.
Dampen the cloth, apply paste, scrub with gentle brush, rinse like youre washing away his sins. Repeat until the stain is gone.
Tougher substances like oil or brake fluid may take several times and a slightly stiffer brush.

No joke, i got denim jeans SOAKED in transmission fluid, completely clean without tearing them up.
Pro tip...dont rinse large quantity of yuck down your drain. I put active charcoal on a drop cloth and rinsed the transmission jeans over the cloth, in the gravel driveway and then garbaged the cloth and charcoal.

Sometimes it’s impossible to tell if the grease stain is still there until you dry it

Dish soap on collars and cuffs works well. Don’t put into dryer or ring around the collar will set and never come out.

Also helps prevent stains absorbing by starching everything. Every single article of my boys clothing gets starched. Not ironed just starched. Stains come out a heck of a lot easier.

Try also lemon juice and oxiclean or Vanish powder in hot water or Biz powder for extra cleaning power.

Would be helpful to know what fabric you’re testing on. The needs and reaction to these solutions depend on the fabric; eg. Cotton vs. bamboo silk alternative/tencel sheets

Love the Dawn blue/ platinum for this. Works great. I keep a small bottle in the bathroom to treat stains right away and, toss in the dirt laundry until wash day.

I did the dish soap on food stains on my grand childrens clothes. The little one who was about 2 already knew. So when he found a stain he would throw it in the kitchen sink. The first time I saw that, I couldn't stop laughing.

Blue collar wife hubby seal coats and asphalts. I have to agree with a comment i saw. Make baking soda paste and add blue dawn work it in. I also use something like shout. Im surprised sometimes, but how well it works.
