How To Hand Wash - A Dry Cleaners Guide

This is a dry cleaners BASIC guide to hand washing. Please keep in mind that hand washing lots of garments, or heavily soiled garments, is very time consuming and much more involved than this.

To start, make sure your garments can be washed with water. We don’t want to do more harm than good! Then begin treating any soiled areas with your favorite stain remover (the longer the treatment sits on the stain the better it will work).

Now its time to actually wash! Grab a bucket, or a clean sink, and fill it up with warm water (cold water will be hard to work with after a while). Add a few drops of your hand washing detergent, give it a mix, and then drop your items in.

Using up and down motions is best for the textile, some light scrubbing for soiled areas too goes a long way. Make sure to give it a thorough rinse and then let it air dry.

A good tip for drying knits is to roll them up in a towel, give it a squeeze, and then let them dry flat. You CANNOT hand dry a wet knit, you will ruin it!!!

Always change the sweater on to a new towel after the initial one gets so wet. Item dries faster.

You just need to surface wash the little charizard. No need to immerse it in water.
