Laundry Tips | A Dry Cleaner’s Guide #laundry

Here are a few tips about my laundry routine, hopefully you find them helpful!

1) Keep a stain removing spray near your hamper to make stain removal a breeze. The enzymes in these products take ages to work so the longer its on the stain the better

2) Sorting clothes by color and weight is important. You don’t want your whites to become grey from black dye, you don’t want your blacks to look dingy due to white lint, and you want to make sure that youre not drying heavy towels with lightweight gym clothes

3) Put anything small or delicate in a mesh bag to protect it from other clothes / the washer drum and to ensure they don’t go missing!

4) Most loads are not very dirty, try switching to cold water 😊

I wash my sheets in hot water... Otherwise I break out in spots from dust mites, that survive the dryer

I use hot water for towels, whites, and bedding, cold water for everything else though, I also separate by color and by delicates (socks/underwear)

I separate by whether it goes in the dryer or not, and towels/bedding is its own load. I am not digging through my wet laundry to separate out the hang dry stuff and the stuff that can handle the dryer. I love the trick about keeping the stain remover by the hamper, thanks!

An exception to "wash everything on cold": if you have a vulva and are troubled by recurrent thrush, bacterial vaginosis, UTIs, or anything similar, washing underwear at 60C can really help. You could be reinfecting yourself!

As a goth I alway separate all my blacks, specially newer items the dyes can leech! It also make it much more obvious which garments are fading more and might need a dye touch up.

I hot wash towels and bedding but only because I want anything in them to die screaming. The rest of my clothes are changed daily but it might be a couple of weeks between towels and sheets

I only use hot water to clean rags and whatever needs washing after someone was sick, usually bedding and jammies.

I used to load my washer down full and put two tide pods in. My clothes always felt and smelled dirty still. Then I started putting a normal load with only one pod. My clothes feel lighter, cleaner and smell SOOOO much better! Might be a little more work, but it's infinitely better

I am a Virgo and I love doing laundry! I always wash my towels and dish cloths in hot water, bedding I wash and in warm
