I just got the Portal, is very beautiful the design, but the connectivity is horrible, a lot of disconnection problems and that is everything when getting a handheld device. I’m going to return it and get the Steam deck 🙌🏽

Nice work! Excellent video to send to my cousins when they ask what to get their kids, thanks!

Hideaki Nishani from Sony just confirmed today that the Portal has nothing limiting it from supporting cloud gaming and that it's something that they plan to look into.

Can't you run the PS Remote app on the Steam Deck as well? 😏

I have steamdeck an ps5. With toddler ps remote looking pretty good. Heavily thinking of buying it.

The only time I’ll be taking my PS Portal out of the house is the 1 week a year I go on my family vacation. So I’ll mainly be around my internet. I know being at home I should just play my console, but when I’m sore and tired from work and don’t feel like turning it on, I can just lay in bed and play or even downstairs when I don’t feel like being upstairs. It is also very light. Heard the Deck is a bit weighty and can sometimes have certain issues for certain games with the controls, but I know I would like one someday. Maybe. I really like indie horror games that Steam has that consoles do not. So maybe down the road when I get the money for it. But I think I’m going with the Switch 2 next.

I have a huge PS games library & I really enjoy the PS Portal for the convenience. The only game I had trouble with was NHL 24 online mode, beside that everything works fine so far. I'm still planning on getting the Steam Deck for my Steam games. For me they both have totally different purposes even though they both are for gaming, if that makes sense lol.

Two different approaches to handhelds. Ppl have to stop comparing it ti gam8ng PC's when Sony told you its a accessory no more no less and it's literally priced as such. And to your point they have more then enough options for you to choose from for the local gaming experience so the portal shouldn't upset no one.

Well if you can’t play call of duty on the steam deck without doing all that windows stuff what’s the point of spending that much money

Am I mad at thinking of getting both to play my ps games on the portal and play pc games such as beamNG and cod custom zombies? 🤷‍♂️ it’s just to use when working away lol

This was a waste of 2 minutes I’ll never get back.

You should’ve compared how well the PS Portal performs in PS5 remote play vs how well the Steam Deck does the same since that is the only use case for the PS Portal.

I own the portal and you need a good router depending on how many devices are connected which adds to the cost. But you can use it instead of ps5 controller so you save some cash

As someone who doesnt own a PS5 or a gaming PC should I just not get a steam deck and instead buy a switch?

The steam deck is better in everyway. The ps portal is only a remote player while the steam deck can run ps5 games via remote play perfectly using chiaki. The steam deck can handle any emulator I've thrown at with flawless emulation. It's a computer so it has a desktop mode that u can use to do all types of cool shit like browse internet, watch Netflix, download files, listening to music etc. the switch 2 won't even be as good as the steam deck

One is getting loud and hot makes your fingers cramp when it would last more than 1, 5 hours playing cyberpunk, the other one costs half the price delivers better graphics and you can play four hours without getting numb hands

The PS Portal should have been bundled with the console.

You can now play ps5 portal without needing a ps5

You normally hit the mark but u were way off on this comparison…it’s just a streaming device not a mobile pc…I.e. steam deck, rog ally etc

The Steam Deck has been my favorite gaming platform for a while. I am usually on the go and take mass transit so I have nearly an hour of premium time to play Baldur's Gate 3 or Cyberpunk 2077. When I am taking lunch I can play a match of Titanfall 2. That's enough for me right now. When I want a break from those, I can play Elden Ring, Mad Max, Limbo, or Skyrim. That's about a third of what I have installed out of 55 verified games I have in my library.
