I had a co-worker the other day accuse me of being "overpaid". I laughed and asked why he thought that. He said "You're driving a Lexus RX350". Yeah, a 2015 Lexus RX350...it's 9 years old (July 2014). He couldn't believe it. Yep, maintain your ride and your ride will look/run great into it's 2nd decade. Bought it CPO in 2017. I hate car payments. Glad I don't have any.

Bought a car cash that was returned from a 3yr lease with 24k miles. It now has 52k miles, rides great and never gives me problems. Black 2017 Mazda 6 GT. Will keep it around as a backup as I plan to get my next one cash too. There’s ways around it, you have to live within your means and treat it as life or death decisions with money if you wanna really move the needle and get ahead. I was an irresponsible idiot in my 20s!! Now at 42, house is paid off, no car payments and saving. I just wanna keep seeing the younger guys in their 20s not make my mistakes I did then. 🙏🏽

I have a 2018 6 Speed Ford Mustang GT that's been paid off since Late 2019. I did buy it new but also had a plan in place to pay it off fast, which I did. I'm debt free. Everything I own, I own without payments, including my home. I'm not getting back into debt over a car. I love my ride! She still puts a smile on my face every time I start the engine. I'm keeping my ride until it drops or I do.

Just get the windows tinted and you won't have to worry what your ride looks like. Lol!

I’m still driving my Camaro that I built out of the junkyard when I was 18 years old. I’m 45 now and it looks way different.

The losing value thing I feel like has gone away. My 36k truck gets offers at 30k from dealers. 4 years old

I once bought a new car. Lost around half of the price in 4 years. Then I bought a used car. And sold it 4 years later for the same price that I bought it.

Lesson learned. Used all the way now.

I bought a car I can afford, but I paid high interest like a fool. I was upside down in a 2014 Chevy Volt after it was discontinued and we had a 3rd child, and could no longer accommodate our family. But, I'm getting out of debt and should be debt free in 2024!

It's ok to buy a new car. Just buy one with cash that will last 20 years & drive it into the ground. But I prefer buying a used one at less than half the cost if new but still driving it for a few years, then finding a deal on a newer used vehicle, so I'm only paying $10 to $15 K for a good upgrade after trade in.

There some similarities between the car depreciating and parents wasting money on kids that don't really care about college, but go to party anyways.

Again BS. I'm old enough where I don't give af about other people's opinions. I stopped trying to impress a decade ago. That being said I still bought a $128k Range Rover as it ticked all the boxes that I was looking for. Paid cash for it.

Driving my 2009 f150 with 125, 000 miles on it. Nothing fancy but it's paid off! No payment here!

Right on, Dave. Lost the I have to have a new car bug two+ decades ago.

We find nice used cars and pay cash for them. Put a couple hundred a month into a sinking fund for the next one, + the value of our car means no more car payments w interest. Life is good.

Remember, in the current situation, the UAW members are asking for 40% raises. Guess who's paying for that? Your $40K car w interest payments!!!

As long as I’m impressed, that’s all that matters.
Could care less about others’ opinions.
Also I don’t have kids, but if I did, they’re paying for their own college because that’s what I did.
