I’ve been suffering from OCD since probably grade 7 and it’s only gotten worse. I’m at 22 year-old adult living with an intellectual disability. I was putting away scissors like literary half an hour ago and they were closed. They weren’t by me or my hair or my face at all And I put them away in a different spot because I’m at work and I want them to be where the rest of the tools are. And then after I put them away, my brain started freaking out and I literally had a panic attack even though nothing happened and it was just my brain and my imagination going wild my OCD trying to control every thought that was coming in. I was able to calm myself down and at least tell myself that nothing happened and that it was my OCD trying to trick me. I talked to a coworker about it, which really helped me and also coming across your video really helped me. You have such a calming voice and it makes me realize that nothing happened and my OCD was trying to win. But for those short, two minutes, I was pacing around Work looking at the scissors and wondering if I should grab them and give into my compulsions and just double/Triple check to make sure they were closed even though they were already were but I didn’t give in. I knew it was my OCD trying to trick me.

Thank you. My son deals with TOCD and we are prepubescent and are heightened in our episodes. These are helping him. Thank you.

Thanks for the fresh content Nathan 😊
I wanted to ask, when someone goes through a stronger “Episode” of OCD after not having intrusive thoughts for a while should the response and disregarding stay the same? Reason I ask is because sometimes it feels like starting from square one all over again. 😅

your videos were all I had to calm me down. I can't imagine those who go through intense anxiety without finding hacks like these

I agree with your analysis 💯. However what if every thought is intrusive and you can't get a break from them to the point you're unable to function as you're left with an unshakeable depression.

Is this, by chance, the only thing one has to do in order to defeat OCD? (Over time, of course).

But I get so much anxiety that the stove is potentially on, the faucet is running and the doors are unlocked that I can't sleep.
And I feel so unsure that I'm convinced I left it on.

Idk how I can ignore it.

I am confused, should we be scared by intrusive thoughts or not?
