The Expansion Big 12, Brett Yormark Have One Really, Really Big Issue Right Now...

The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas and it needs some help. There is not one massive football brand to carry this league. It consists of 14 full-member universities (3 private universities and 11 public universities) in the states of Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.

It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition.

Major membership changes came during the 2010–2013 Big 12 Conference realignment and still more changes came or will come during the 2021–2024 NCAA conference realignment.

The conference is one of the Power Five conferences, the five highest-earning and most historically successful FBS football conferences. Power Five conferences are guaranteed at least one bid to a New Year's Six bowl game and have been granted autonomy from certain NCAA rules.

Takes time bro. New Big 12 needs to solidify and then we'll see who steps up. I love this new league. All solid teams. Looking forward to seeing who becomes a big dog.

The problem is not the knocking everyone off, it is losing to the out of conference teams. You can't keep losing to the MAC and MWC and the other P5 teams and be looked at as the big dog. Utah is not talked about as much because of location. BYU won't get there year after year due to the difficulty in being a religious school with actual student requirements outside the classroom. It is a matter of having a large population area as well as having a big dog as well. Kansas in basketball has done it because of decades of being great. It is harder to do this with football. Look at Clemson's and Alabama's falls this year. Clemson may no longer have the same reputation with a couple more years of not having the same type of winning seasons.

The Big10 & SEC are both top heavy. A very thin upper crust of talent covering a foundation of also rans. Sure you get consistency in that environment. The only thing good about that is seeing an also ran win.

Recruiting is the life blood of College football, You need to win to bring recruits (NIL aside). Kids want an opportunity to win and who develops them the best for the NFL. I would also add a team Culture, you hear "Family" all the time alot talk it very few actually walk it. Hint "Athlete led leadership counsel", To name a few.😊

I think TCU will be that team. I also think KSU and Utah can be that team. CU, if Deon stays will always draw well. KU seems to be building something really nice.

Completely disagree. I love the fact that any team can jump up and dominate on any given season. Parity means that most games are winnable by either side. That's where the excitement is.

The Dawgs of the Big 12 will emerge in time especially when conference expansion slows down. With four new schools having joined last year and another four to six joining next year, the rivalries and the dawgs you speak of will rise from the dust as they always do. Just be patient with the process of conference evolution and creation by the fans. The statistical numbers will tell the story!

Valid cast. But, Big 12 doesn't really have an dormats either. That's good. No Laughingstock programs anymore.
But, if you want a POWER... Long Term... Watch UCF, primarily. But, also Cincy and BYU. Those 3 are coming from tier-2 or independent status. Now, they can begin recruiting as a Power-4. That helps a Ton.
K-State. Chris Klieman, look at what he did at NDS. He;s "Building" this program.
Look at what Lance Leipold as done a KU. WOW! My only concern, is that his track record at Buffalo doesn't totally support that this is permanent. But, I sure hope so. Same with Sonny Dykes.

I actually love the parity and unpredictability... 80% of our teams have a realistic possibility to win the conference from yr. to yr. - THAT IS THE B12... embrace it, celebrate it, and Yormark to sell it!

PS - KState fans did not "call for Kleiman to be fired" - Put that hot take on ice

Next yr. You will start seeing consistantcy with Utah and Colo. Coming in next yr. It will also include BYU !

Byu will rise up like Utah did. Give Deion 3 years to run the program

This year is the opportunity for KState and/or TCU to step up and begin to establish themselves. Next year, UT and OU are gone, and Utah in. UTAH will be considered one of the top Dawgs.

This might sound funny but I think the new Big 12 schools (BYU, UCF, Cincy, Houston) could be those brands in time.

Are you asking for what so many complained about when OU routinely ran through the conference before declaring they're out of here? 😂

Kansas needs to win the Big 12. Utah needs to win the Pac-12. Everybody needs to win their bowl games. I'll be rooting for Kansas on Saturday. It could be a huge narrative changer for the future of the Big 12

If Houston and Baylor are the 2 worst teams in your conference, I think you're okay. Those schools will rebound. I think we'll be fine next year.

I don't know how you define a dog, but TCU has averaged a top 10 finish to the season every other year for the past 15 years... Final season ending polls for TCU 2008 #7, 2009 # 6, 2010 #2, 2014 # 3, 2015 #7, 2017 #9, 2022 #2…. Not to mention a top 25 finish in 2011 at #14. That’s literally every other year for last 15 years. TCU has more 10 win season in last 2 decades than A&M has in their entire college football existence.

And so far this season TCU tends to be very consistent with the exception of losing to Colorado

I think next year it'll be Colorado and Utah and UCF in 2 more years

Not only is it so big overreaction for week four but three weeks ago this guy and all the other ones are saying the fact that there isn’t somebody who stands out and it’s a very balanced conference is a great thing. This is sort of silly
