I slept, dressed except for my outer coat with rifle in my bag and my boots at my side.
3 Am "Alert" I was up, boots on (not laced) and at my post watching various others arrive, in jammies (!!!), buck naked, various states of undress, no boots and a couple with no rifle! The only two ready to rumble were my tent mate who had followed my lead and me!!
We were sent back to bed while the Sgt had a "little chat" with the rest! 😂

Knew a friend that tied the sling to his ankle so the rifle wasn't going further than a foot without him. Tied it hard enough that his leg was gonna come off before he let the rifle get away. Ended up watching him get his ass dragged about 10ft before the sergeant let him be.

I managed to accidently back fist one of our corporals in basic training. He was standing next to me shouting at me while we were doing "burpees" (that's a British Army term for a squat thrust then a star jump). I came up into the star jump part, and he got too close. Back fisted him right in the face and he couldn't do a damn thing about it because it was his fault....
