My junior high teacher had us make a presentation on Nazi Germany atrocities in WW2. I asked if I could do Japan instead, and she was like, sure as long as its about WW2. She didn't know anything about what they did to the Chinese and South East Asians and their absurd body count and treatment. She had this holy fuck look on her face when I finished the presentation. This was 8 years ago. I find it quite strange not even a decade ago everyone knew about German atrocities but very little or nothing about Imperial Japan atrocities.
