We could be living in an entirely different world, one run under Japanese rule, if one single event in history never happened that is. Check out today's new video that looks at what would have happened if Japan never surrendered in World War 2.

What you seem to forget is by this point Japan had no resources left. Their navy was decimated, Air Force in shambles. Even if they hadn’t surrendered in August of 1945 the US would’ve gone to the invasion plan not to mention the Soviets were already set to declare war on Japan in September. Japan wouldn’t have had the economic power let alone resources to do any of thing your talking about. They would have put up a fight had US invade but it would still end in a US victory and would’ve prolonged it until early 1946

Japan surrendering to USA was the greatest thing that ever happened to the country. Japan is near the forefront in means of technology today. It is a regional powerhouse.

My Great Great Uncle (who is still alive as of this comment's writing) was almost a part of d day, but caught Pneumonia. He was later stationed in the pacific theater and said that he would likely have been a part of some of the initial land invasions had Japan not surrendered. He said he remembered fighting Japanese on various islands and said that they just wouldn't give up. He said he almost certainly would not be alive if Japan had not surrendered.

Edit 5 months after initial post:
Unfortunately my Great Great Uncle passed away in his sleep recently, thank you to everyone who read his story so that he may live on in our minds.

The US and UK would have conducted Operation Downfall on an Irradiated Japan, and the USSR would have invaded Hokaido from the North.
This actually almost happened, as some officers attempted a coup to stop the Emperor's message of surrender from getting out.

The USSR declared war on Japan. This story has a lot of what-ifs.

REALITY: Japan surrendered to the US because the Soviet Union was already at their doorsteps, occupying Manchuria and conquering the other half of Sakhalin (Karafuto Prefecture)

Yeah you made some real leaps in this one. Soviets were already ready to invade and would've preferred securing a long standing local enemy in Japan vs being imperialistic and going for the US

This guy did not quit. After the war ended Onoda spent 29 years hiding out in the Philippines until his former commander travelled from Japan to formally relieve him from duty by order of Emperor Shōwa in 1974. Now that is dedication to duty.

A couple of years ago, in the city of Johnstown Pennsylvania, they had an event at the airport. One of the last flying B-29s and several other flying WWII aircraft gathered there. The event was basically a fundraiser for the maintenance of the planes, and you could buy a seat so you could fly in the aircraft. I got to ride in a C-45 Expeditor. While I was there I noticed the B-29 was hooked up to a generator while it was on the ground. The brand of the generator was Yamaha. An airplane that could have potentially bombed the Japanese is now being powered by a Japanese company. Makes you think. Still have the photo of that

I think you forgot that by this point the USSR was also at war with Japan and had taken Manchuria. So I think this alternate history video doesn’t have enough research done to make an accurate assumption as it missed a very key part even though the soviets were mentioned a ton.

Infographics as always roughly 80% accurate with glaring inaccuracies.

I'm just so impressed with Japan how they survived and rose up to become the most technologically developed country... I have a lot to learn from them alot... So that I can fix my country

While Japan’s surrender was conditional, if they refused to surrender, a 3rd bomb would have been dropped. Likely on Tokyo. Maybe even a fourth bomb, followed by invasion. It would have been total and absolute destruction for Japan. Glad they did not push too hard. We’re both the better for it.🇺🇸🇯🇵

Alot of these assumptions are a little out there. I would love to see Japan ramp up production of AA weapons for example when their country was effectively out of materials to build them. They were almost entirely cut off from oil, coal, and steel by that point in the war. Their citizens would have fought off the Americans with Spears (this is infact how they were being trained) because there just weren't enough guns to go around anymore

The invasion would have been like the last war between Carthage and Rome. Japan would inflict an insane amount of casualties but the end result would have been the destruction of Japanese civilization.

If Japan didn't give up they would have ended up a nuclear isolation zone

You should make another video like this "what if the NATO and the Warsaw Pact gone to war with each other in 1983?" was my idea because we were pretty close to going to war with the USSR then and that war would have been Catastrophe.

The answer is probably shorter than you'd think, more nuclear bombs would have been dropped until surrender or obliteration were the only options left. Leaving a permanent reminder to the rest of the world what could happen if ancient morals outweighed modern humility.
Time had moved on and cultures needed to adjust accordingly.

Bit of a strange video. The USSR did attack Japan at the end of the war, and Operation Downfall, although primarily US led, would have included troops from most allied states.

It’ll probably be gruesomely inevitable, more lives would’ve been lost and the war would rage on and on
