The 14" MacBook Pro is one of the best laptops for creative professionals. But with a lower $1600 price tag (and a set of compromises to boot), is it worth considering?

Love the contrast of this channel of more informative, review type videos compared to Austin's! It's a good mix

Great Video! I'll find a left over M1/M2 new MacBook and "struggle on" with that to not spend $1, 600.00 though 😂

As an M1 MBAir user, I now know that 8 GB is not enough at all. Every thing in my laptop is working great but with each update I see my RAM availability just diminish. The OS does a good job in diminishing the load. but, the fact is on most mornings with nothing still opened and running; I’m having just 1.5 GB to spare.

Well since I’m upgrading from 8GB MacBook Pro 2018 with butterfly keyboard to M3 Pro (11c 18GB) I’d say it’s worth it… same way I upgraded from 8 plus to 14 pro max haha

The M3 chips are leveling up this year’s MacBook

Since the non-Max MacBook Pro laptops have similar performance on the multi-core level, just get the M2 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM. Saves you money. Numerous 3rd party sellers currently have the M2 MacBook Pro 14 refurbished at $1, 600. Same price as the M3 MBP 14 with 8GB of RAM.

For those that really want and need the M3 for work purposes, get the M3 Pro MBP for all the graphics updates and at least 18GB of RAM.

I currently running a 2012 iMac and it’s starting to struggle and I’m stuck with what I should get, in Australia a MacBook Air with 16 gig ram and 512gb is 2399 or I can get a refurbished base model MacBook Pro m3 for 2289, I kinda want that extra ram but I feel like it’s better to have active cooling, and you have more ports on the pro compared to the air.
I mostly do photo editing and a little video editing

I just got a 14" MacBook M3 Pro 18GB RAM 512GB SSD for $1, 500 open box in excellent condition from Best Buy. They're having a sale on Macs right now, so you can get one brand new for $1, 700. I was also able to trade in my M2 Mac Mini Pro for $650 (Apple would've only paid out $425) so my total came out to $850 (plus no sales tax since I'm a Portlandian lol). Such a good deal for a $2k laptop.

For 1500 with the student discount it is not that awful when you consider the display you are getting and window devices that are oled and still are as quality as Mac OS are still more expensive or the same price.

I bought it as my first Apple product ever, for $1399 at my local Costco, and its been really good and more for what i use it. I just use it for taking online classes and trading on the go, and I don't have anything bad to say so far. Still transitioning from Samsung but it's been good. Obviously I have my PC at home. But for portability it has been really good for me.

8GB ram on a 1600$ laptop is terrible because you can literally get gaming/business laptop with 4x as much for the same price or even less

After having owned Windows computers for years I bit the bullet and purchased the MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro. I love it, got the base model with an 512 gb ssd and 18 gb of ram.

at least 16 gigs of ram should be the base model for that price... 8 gigs is outrageous, smh

I’d consider it if I was allowed to use a personal computer for work

The price when adding ram or storage makes this a bad take

For $1600 you can pick up a new Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 11 That comes with the 12th gen i7, 32GB of memory, 512GB SSD (which is also faster than the m2/m3 base ssd), *OLED DISPLAY* and you get all the MacBook Pro ports plus traditional USB-A ports along with it.

If it weren't for me wanting macOS and that sweet sweet battery life, I would've picked that up instead of a m2 air (yes I know this video is about m3 but m3 wasn't out when I got my Air).

I think it would be a great comparison video to compare them. Especially since the X1 carbon is not only technically a better value, it also meets the build quality of the MacBook but is also lighter than the Air
