MacBook Pro M3 Pro 14-inch Review 3 Months Later

I've been using the 14-inch Macbook Pro M3 Pro (Space Black) for 3 months now. Here is my long term review:

**Pros:**
* Very good performance, especially for creators (video editing)
* Excellent battery life (lasts a day for office and creative work)
* Great display with good colors but don't notice the high refresh rate
* Quiet operation (no fans spinning during editing)
* Comfortable keyboard and spacious trackpad with good gestures
* Good speakers with deep bass and crisp vocals
* Can support up to two external displays with 6K resolution at 60Hz
* Runs MacOS smoothly with no performance issues

**Cons:**
* Expensive ($2,399)
* Notch on the display
* Limited gaming options compared to Windows laptops
* No significant performance difference for those already using M1 or M2 Macbook Pro

**Recommendation:**
* This laptop is great for creators who prioritize quiet operation, long battery life, and good performance.
* If you're on a tight budget, consider getting a refurbished M1 Pro model.
* Not worth upgrading from M1 or M2 Macbook Pro unless you need the Space Black color.

18GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage is a good setup for most video editing workload with the M3 chip. For someone with a Youtube channel with 14k subscribers, you got a great laptop that will meet your needs and some.

I have had the 14 MacBook Pro with the m3 pro 512GB SSD 18GB of ram for 5 months, and I can say that it is a great computer, the battery lasts a ton, the screen is spectacular, the sound is incredible, the best of all is not hearing the fans.

Great honest review Mark. I have that same exact model. I really love it. I did have a 16" M1 Max (great machine) but for me it was just a little too big and never left my desk. The 14" has been perfect and for what I use it for it hasn't felt like a downgrade in either size or performance.

Do you by any chance use Excel or PowerPoint? I’m looking to getting the same device but is curious if it’ll do well with editing software, excel and PowerPoint…my current 2020 laptop is slow and always shutting down when using them.

I plan to buy Macbook M3 Pro 16 inch. I am confused between 18GB and 36GB RAM. It is a bit pricey but I want to keep this laptop for so many years. Maybe even 10 years or till it will not be useful anymore.
I am not any programmer, coder, editor. I will just use it for daily use such as browsing Internet, watching movies and occassionally trying to play in games like Star Wars, Minecraft or Arkham series etc.
I feel like 18 GB is enough but I am worried about future if maybe 36GB is future proof for any updates or games or anything like that. I will be happy for honest advices

I’m kind of scared to buy this laptop. I bought the M1 MacBook Pro when it first came out, but after a year and a half, I started experiencing hardware and software issues. The touch bar and a USB port stopped working, followed by the trackpad and keyboard a year later. These products enable so much productivity but I have yet to own an Apple device (except for the Apple TV) that lasts more than a year and a half without planned obsolescence kicking in.

You can use crossover to play any game on mac and you can just watch a tutorial on how to do that. The m3 pro should be able to play call of duty on respectable framerate on lower settings.

Don't be hyped!. Though this is a great machine, it's not as advertised superior laptop. I've upgraded from an HP Laptop (i5 9th gen with RTX1650) even in After Effects there's a minor change in render times. The only real upgrade I've got is portability which was not my main concern. I'm about to decide whether I'll resell the Macbook or not
