On You Tube there are many video versions of the catchy song "You Can Always go Around" for viewing. Every pilot or future pilot needs to view one of these. The song speaks the truth. Evidently many pilots with their stories on Allec's channel needed a viewing before their last flight. When you let the plane get ahead of your brain, you're in for trouble. A go around can reset the process.

Who lands not knowing how much runway you have left ? Total incompetence. I've landed on snow covered runways right on the numbers on clear days and I'm still worried about the stopping distances. This guy was hypnotized by the conditions and not even thinking rational at this point.

The passengers didn't expect to go sledding in a plane, that's for sure.

Thank you Allec, another excellent presentation. Seems like the crew and ATC were all working out of three separate boxes with a bad outcome as a result. Landing criteria and flight rules all ignored…

Pilots have to be very careful with landing in weather like that, especially in Nepal, as the Himalayas are there and you can crash into a mountain if you're not that careful.

But, for this, in foggy/snowy weather, you have to be extremely careful, or something could go wrong, (and also, runway lights should be put up on every runway, just in case if the plane is lost while trying to find the runway.)

Either way, this was a good vid about this exact proposition. Good job, Allec. Respect.

"Furthermore, as the Captain was pointing the aircraft in the direction of the visible paved portion of the runway, his workload was very heavy."
Kind of a situation the Captain brought upon himself by not at least doing a go around, even though conditions failed to meet minimums.

Good presentation, and I expect the Comments to be a treasure house of additional information as usual. Load ‘em up.

If the question ever comes up, "should we go around?" the answer is yes. Something made you ask that question and, barring any mechanical failures of the plane, going around is the only thing that will give you time to figure out what that something was before you crash.

1. Some pilots are reluctant to abandon an unstable approach. 2. Always abandon an unstable approach.

Everyone lived!! 🥰 SMH 🤦‍♀ Appears the captain screwed up. I'm guessing the snow would've helped to stop the plane safely. Better than hitting a wall, the ground or over the hill.

I counted at least seven factors that led to the crash. However, unlike other accidents in which if only one of the factors had not occurred the accident would not have occurred, this accident would have occurred anyway — lots of critical errors here.

The Captain gets a "U" in the judgement category. Nice that no tombstones were created.

I will never understand pilots who set minimums and then completely disregard them. It's a terrible habit to get into and it will eventually cost you dearly.

Wow, so you can fly passengers with 395 hours!

When either pilot express that "i bet that" or "i think that" then call go around and try again without wishful thinking. A plane does not take off a little or land a little nor fly a little. Save the wishes for the soccer match

does anyone know what happens to pilots like this who crash an airplane? do they have to get re-trained on all forms of piloting techniques? do they get banned a year or longer for a plane crash? do then get a slap on the wrist and get right back into the cockpit? these videos from Allec are great but i would love to know the aftermath of many of these crashes ( that don't end in a fatality)

The copilot has low hours for a commercial pilot. The minimum in the US is 1500 hours.

Even in America, if a pilot wanted to try an approach, I would clear them for an approach, as long as the runway was reported to be safe. Didn’t matter what the approach minimums were. What I find odd is the fact that the company didn’t limit when their pilots could shoot an approach. All of the air carriers I worked with forbade pilots attempting an approach below certain minimums at a given airport; 1/4 mile and a 400’ ceiling would certainly be below allowable conditions for carrying passengers at any airport.

This one had "go around" written all over it. Captains very poor judgement fault.
