I always thought it made no sense that government buildings don’t have solar panels on them. It would be such a passive way to save tax money and there are so many buildings owned or operated by the government on all levels that there could be a high impact with just that alone. You wouldn’t even need a battery set-up as they could still be connected to the grid and mostly operate during the day.

I first heard about the CO2 causing climate change in 1969. We were told then that if we let things warm up enough for the methane hydrate to melt, it would be too late. That's been happening for over 7 years now. I'm glad I'm old.

I think it's indicative of the people in power throughout the world.
All of them have vast personal wealth and power. As a result anything they ask for happens rapidly and they rarely have to actually do things for themselves. As such the idea that a project will take decades just isn't real to them. That isn't how their world works. You tell the lackeys to do the thing, thing gets done.
The climate change problem is for the next president, prime minister, king ect.

At this point we are working towards mitigating the negative effects and adaptation to the negative effects at the same time. Form my experience it’s fun to reduce GHG emissions.
Then fossil fuel industry will need to clean up their mess and we should be able to stabilize the crisis.

It's not a question of individual actions *OR* system change. System change is the most important, but *BOTH* things are needed.

To the dude below me, all-too-true! Simple changes, like reducing, reusing, and recycling difficult to comprehend and even harder to do for multi-celled organisms.

We need wind and solar PV farms outside every city and large investments in high insulation, high efficiency and electric transportation. Stop messing around!

The biggest problem, at least in the US, is people unwilling to make any changes to their lifestyle for the benefit of all humanity.

The efficiency argument has been so frustrating to deal with when talking to people against renewables.

The amount of times I've heard "yeah but it'll take years to see the return on your solar panels". It will take only 3 years for me to be even on the panels and then I have "free energy". Long term gains for renewables will be so strong if we switch.

Now this conversation is important to make sure we pick good sources of clean energy. I think batteries aren't there yet and it took a bit for me to realize that. Therefore we might not see fossil fuels go away for a while for when renewables aren't producing or when batteries are just no feasible. So pushing places to go hybrid electricity for homes and offices would be amazing right now.

Cars and trucks at this point is not feasible to go electric yet. Getting rid of non hybrid cars and e85 gas cars need to happen first then push towards electric. Or hydrogen fuel cars!

We should just focus on not hitting 2.0˚…
1, 5˚ is to late. So stop talking about 1, 5˚ !
