Regarding the level up animation, considering Caterpie evolves at that exact level, I wonder if it was supposed to show the player that their pokemon was ready to evolve.

I actually saw the broken wally zigzagoon cutscene as a kid. I genuinely thought my game was broken and asked all around school if anyone else had that happen and literally EVERYONE thought I was lying. Glad to know that wasn't just a fever dream lmao.

Something that wounds me about the Ralts knockout is that it's actually a pretty significant time save for speedrunning! That means if someone gets their God run while also getting just the perfect IVs on that Zigzagoon, the category might die for a long time!

Oh! And I believe that Hiker who knows about Arceus to be the same Hiker as the one at Sinjoh Ruins in HeartGold SoulSilver! He also begins his text with "Oh! We meet again!" if you get that obscure cutscene from visiting the ruins a second time. Same as his second time in Diamond & Pearl!

I loved the ending of R/S/E because of the pokemon showing up. I realized they were the ones I had caught, and it felt like we were ending our adventure together.

I love the idea of Wally just knocking out the Ralts, then just walking up to it and catching the very dead Ralts and being all like
"I did it.. It's my Pokémon!"

For the caterpie one, i think that originally when a pokemon reached a level where they would evolve during battle, it would play that unique level up animation. I’m pretty sure this is the case since for Caterpie, it happened at level 7, which is the level where it evolves into Metapod

I don't think the "cheating"-line from Claire is talking about cheating as in "hacking", just cheating as in not going to get the item yourself but "asking a friend to give you one" (if you would look at it from the character's perspective)

I actually saw the scene where the Skull grunt yells at you in the Shady House on my first playthrough! After Guzma left, I just thought it would be funny to sit on his throne like “it’s mine now” and was delighted to see there was a little easter egg scene :)

3:26 I think it signifies that your pokemon is gonna evolve after the battle. Caterpie in particular evolves at level 7 and that noise does play during the evolution cutscene.

I’ve heard people say that gen 5 is the last game with actual interesting hidden content, but gen 7 for instance has a surprising amount of hidden things in it. I assume people view newer games as having less obscure content due to the fact that every hidden fact or detail is usually plastered all across the internet day one, if not leaked beforehand.

The only reason I know about Claire denying you the Badge is because of Pikasprey, since he had randomized items on, he figured "Well since I already have it, I may as well show it to Clair." and was absolutely shocked when he read what Claire said.

The Clair line was likely because of the held item trade possibility. In the Gen 2 games Nintendo put a lot of effort into fixing exploits and softlocks, they probably did quite a bit of testing for the held item trades. From a programming standpoint it's quite easy to do, when you speak to Clair after she's told you to get the Dragon Fang the game checks two things: your inventory to see if you have said fang, and a flag that's set when you pick the fang up. Games like this use flag values to prevent items from respawning or players from reversing their own progress. Clair has different responses depending on the status of those two checks, I'm curious if there's also dialog for if the fang has been picked up but is not in your inventory (IE you gave it to a Pokémon and either stored them in a box or traded them away).

Wally’s zigzagoon knocking out the ralts is well-known in the speedrunning community as it would save lots of time over watching Wally throw a pokeball and catch the ralts.

I was fortunate enough to experience the Arceus event as my local Kmart hosted it. It was probably my favourite event, even compared to the Darkrai and Shaymin ones. I loved reading about the Sinnoh lore in the Canalave library and was blown away by the event triggered by taking that same Arceus to the Ruins of Alph in HGSS!

I actually discovered some of my OWN hidden text-In Heartgold/Soulsilver when you're hiding as a Rocket Grunt, every single NPC has unique diologue-including ALL the NPCs outside of the clerks in the Department store! I only discovered this due to my nuzlocke in Heartgold making me go and buy some healing items-and I chatted to an NPC by accident. Seeing the unique text, I went and chatted to everyone I could! It's really interesting, I don't know how many people documented or discovered this but I've never heard of it until I ran into it myself!

3:14 - "I have no clue what the purpose of this was. It's hard to say-". Hmmmn, it's almost like Caterpie evolves to Metapod at level 7.

The Claire Thing is probably the game checking if you have the Dragon Fang in your bag and if the event in the Dragons Den has triggered. I wonder if they did this to avoid sequence breaking the plot

It's probably not as obscure as Arceus one, but back in the day there was a special distribution Regigigas in Platinum that changed few empty caves with single items into special rooms where you could encounter Regirock, Regice and Registers.

Similar to the Ralts KO, there's a similar phenomenon that can happen in Pokémon Colosseum. At one point, there's a scripted battle between Eagun and a cipher grunt named Skrub. Eagun uses a Pikachu, while Skrub uses a shadow Hitmontop. The fight is supposed to end with Skrub winning and a cutscene playing afterwards that indicates this, making way for the player to battle them. Because Eagun's Pikachu has the Static ability, however, it is possible for the ability to trigger on turn 1, then have Hitmontop get paralyzed for enough turns after that to lose the fight. I have seen this happen myself, but I didn't record it, so I hope that someday someone proves this possibility with video

I actually had no clue it was rare to see the hiker I used to ride the lift constantly just because it was fun; I love lil cutscenes of riding stuff (I wanted to watch the train ride each time in shield). My favorite part of gen 3 as a kid was riding the lift and making my way to lay in sand to hatch some eggs then making my way down to my secret base from there because I would love to do contests between the cities and my base. I think base building is probably my most missed feature (why can't we at least decorate our rooms anymore? Or the new dorms?)
