My chronic knee pain started at age 12.

At 18 I had major surgery.

Many athletes have pain and injuries in that window.

My knees turned my favorite sport into daily anguish. I desperately wanted to quit playing, yet desperately wanted to be better at my sport.

Here’s the formula I would use to address the problem.

You can do this as an individual or with a team.

200-yard backward jog (ideally jogging)
20 wall calf raises per side
20 tibialis raises
20 full-range split squats per side
Elevating the front foot makes it easier
Front heel can lift up
Back knee does not touch the floor
Keep chest upright
2 sets of 5 Nordic drops
Go light on the first set
Resist harder on the second set
Use something immovable or have a partner hold your heels
Slow and Low Squats (3 sets of 5 reps with 5-second descent)
Progression: Bodyweight → Medicine ball → Kettlebell/Dumbbell → Barbell (front-loaded)

Slow paused Deep barbell front squats combined with yoga style stretches over the years have made my knees feel bullet proof. Can’t agree enough, these exercises build strong healthy knees

This is amazing thank you exactly what I’ve been looking for. Just recently 2 months ago started training like an athlete for soccer . Have a knee injury and will feel it but these are gold especially to hit legs, mobility and have great knee ability for the field and everyday life

Hi ben. Im 40. Ski, bike and surf are my sports. Ive been able to address chronic pain in my foot/ankle when jogging via split squats and walking backwards on an incline. Thanks for helping increase my fitness IQ! Love ur channel!
