how to deal with someone who brags all the time

First of all, don't talk about your own accomplishments. That will set this person off further. And then he will try to 'one up' you. Instead, feign being impressed. What I mean is, use a little sarcasm, and continually say, "wow, I'm impressed." Then they will realize you aren't really impressed, and move on to someone who is!

One day my boss, the narcissist started talking with another narcissist... they went on for 2 hours trying to top one another in their accomplishments.

I had a "friend" like this. Her daughter was always better than everyone else's... One day most of our real friends were at a church luncheon, and I was excited that my daughter got into the most prestigious art school in the area. I don't know what got into me, but Knowing what was coming, I turned to her and said, "Now, Roberta, you can tell us how your girl has much more talent than mine." A few gasps and then laughter.

I do this all the time with my boss. The Grey Rock. I ignore all of his "me-me-me" accomplishments.

I lived with such ppl, sil and her husband, who talked constantly about how great they are. They think I'm hating, but I don't care. I simply like to be around the humble.

I had a friend that I would see occasionally. She always had a story that told you how great her family was. For years I was left with the impression that they were special and I wasn't. Then air cleared and I realized how proud she was. My comment to her that made her back up was, "Wow you all are some family. I guess you must be very proud." She realized she had been bragging.

I had this co-worker who has the habit of bragging like you ask one question then she will respond a lot leading to her bragging monologue.

It's a flipping have a friend who constantly every week shows me photos of her swimming at the beach with her wetsuit on, she gets her hubby to take photos!...why do I need to see that every week???! No I don't want to see it, a couple of times is fine but not every week! It's starting to grate on me....what does she expect me to say all the time...oh well done you.... Grrr

Yes, this tactic actually works pretty good (so long as you can suppress the desire to tell them to shut the heII up finally!). I've got a coworker who is CONSTANTLY bragging, and this is one good way to take the wind out of his sails.

so true! it's so sad that I'm that one person in (let's call her) my "friend's" life who doesn't eat up her bullshit. I hate that one up game she plays and whatever, then pretends to be all humble AFTER she brags? wow, what a great cop out.

Am dealing with this right now my friend brags constantly.she is graduating from college and she keeps bringing it up omg she acts as if she is the first to graduate from college am so annoyed am proud of her but am really annoyed with her bringing it up

Yes, it's so irritating... I hv a friend that constantly only calls me when she wants to brag ... after a while I started taking 24hrs to respond back to her

Just build them up, and tell them "You are so rich, even richer than Elon Musk!" That messes them up when you tell them they are higher than someone THEY KNOW they aren't even close to

Great advice but even just by politely listening to such people, they begin to seek you out and drain you over and over again. You have to avoid these people and break the cycle. They are always looking to hold people hostage with their tales of glory.

She's great I just say Good for you! with my head tilted but a ridge of sarcasm sounding unimpressed. I deal with these attention hounds all the time. My kid this, my kid that.. wow good for You! It's so funny when I say it!.
