This is the first time I've heard a real reason for pulled short irons. Thank you as it worked.

Never entered my mind, but that’s what I’m doing. I’ve struggled with it for a long time. Nailed it Mark! Cheers lol!

My gosh, my miss explained! Riddle solved! Conundrum unraveled! After all these years. Had a recent lesson. Told pro about this problem. He says I'm coming over the top! Bollocks. Nye, bye pro.
Mark, you are a genius. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Could never understand why my short irons are going so far left but my divots are straight to the target. Took your advice and made sure that the sole of the iron was flat on the ground and not toe up. Problem which has been bothering me for 2 years solved!! Thanks Paul!

be careful of the ball position too. With wedges, I tend to pull them because the ball is slighty too much forward.

Thanks. I've been having the same issue and for the first time the other day I just heard about this phenomenon about the wedge loft pointing left. Can't wait to get out there and try it today.

Great explanation of why I hit my wedges left as a right handed golfer.

Thanks for this tip Mark! Just today, many times I hit a great drive only to miss the green with a pull with my 7 to wedge irons. I will try to focus on my posture in the future.

Thanks Mark. I moved my posture up and my shots immediately went straighter. A few more adjustments and I was on target. By paying more attention to my posture, my overall ball striking improved.

I tend to hit straight shots but when I do miss with a wedge it is always left. You are the first person I have seen explain why about hand position at contact.. I always try to speed up my turn if I am missing left but now by your demo I think you gave me a better idea !! Thanks.

I had a pull wedge problem. My hacker diagnosis was that I tended to play the shorter irons around the body too much. The swing thought or feeling which 100% solved the issue was straightening the path post impact and getting my right shoulder to go under my chin on the follow through. This feeling no doubt caused pre-impact changes which gave me dead straight ball flight and better strike (feeling and flight).

Unbelievable... tried it on the range. Worked a bloody treat 👍 thanks Mark!

Mark Crossfield Great advice, that loft left issue is also why people often have trouble with direction of shots when the ball is on a sidehill lie above the feet.
If all long irons, metals & driver are in the 'fade' shape then would suggest the path's a bit out to in, swinging left through impact too.

I know this video is super old, but just wanted to say that was super concise and helpful!

Great video. I wondered why I pulled my wedges when my swing path is usually in to out. Now I know the reason. I am very short and keep hands down as my instructor asks me to. If you are short and use standard clubs, obviously the club face aims even more to the left.

More evidence of just how important set up is during pre shot routine. My old coach always told me that with long irons, always imagine a 10p piece sat under the toe end of the club ( thus not quite sitting flush with the ground) because with higher club speed the shaft will tend to bend slightly before impact. Another great vid Mark, good advice.

This idea was helpful, I went to the range today and was hitting left. I'm going to practice this on my net right now.
