Would have been funny if at the end, regardless of Manga or Anime, just before Light dies, Ryuk says "Oh, and thanks for the apples!"

Light: “No, I said I needed to go to the Apple store.”

Light: “Yeah, that’s what an Apple store is.”
Ryuk: “I wrote all their names in my Death Note.”

Why couldn't Ryuk just steal apples from a market? Is it because someone who can see Ryuk has to touch the apples first before Ryuk can actually have a grip on the apples?

Its funny how Death Gods consider Apples to beat their source of Alcohol when Apples can be mashed and mixed into Cider

Imagine giving your best friend Death God a bottle of fresh apple cider as a homewarming present. The kindness alone would probably compel him to give you more life added to your contract because he'd be so touched by the sentiment.

Ryuk is so funny and cute *(wait...he is already cute...)* when he wants apples. I wish he was real. He could be my imaginary friend. But everytime i would want to talk to him while i am in public all the people they will just stare at me and think that i am insane and i am talking to the air...Ahhh i don't care i am insane anyway!!!
