In this video, we’re going to discuss the connection between high insulin and ringing in the ears, also known as tinnitus.

When you have high levels of sugar in your blood and high levels of insulin, there are four areas of the body that are most susceptible to damage: the heart, kidneys, brain, and nervous system.

This is why peripheral neuropathy is one of the side effects associated with high insulin. Damage to the nervous system causes you to feel tingling in your fingers and toes.

Tinnitus is the destruction of nerves in the inner ear which causes ear ringing that can drive people crazy! High blood sugar destroys the nerves of the inner ear, causing tinnitus.

A study showed that around 84% of tinnitus cases also have high insulin. Even so, it’s not routine to check insulin levels when someone is diagnosed with tinnitus.

If you want tinnitus relief, find a good source of the fat-soluble B vitamin called benfotiamine. This B vitamin supports nerves that have been damaged from high sugar and high insulin. Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting also help lower blood sugar and reduce insulin.

I have had tinnitus for more then a decade. For me, when I get enough sleep & rest and avoiding stress, temporarily my tinnitus goes away.

Yes me too, I nursed for 40 years, in theatre, wards, clinics and day hospital and have learned so much from your lectures. I have lost 1 and 3/4 stones. I feel much better, thank you.

I can attest to the truth in this video. My tinnitus was getting extremely intolerable. About the same time I started Keto and IF, not because of the tinnitus, but just because I wanted to get healthy. Weeks into Keto and IF I noticed my tinnitus was greatly reduced. I made the connection that my eating habits were related to my hearing. This is the first video I’ve watched that verified my suspicions.

I got tinnitus after I had strep throat in college. I've been on Keto for 5 years and it still hasn’t stopped. Don’t think you can claim this for every instance…

I did keto 3 years ago. Loved it. Stopped because it made my tinnitus a lot worse.

I have loud tinnitus and after 3 MRI's and MRA's a month ago, I found that there was nothing structurally causing it (had the tests because of other vein issues in the past). Fast forward to this week. I asked my doctor about doing the insulin test and he looked at me like I was on another planet. He said it was a 'rare' test and since my glucose is 92 and A1C is 5.3 he said I was well within the norms and he couldn't recommend it. Time to find another doctor.

I’ve suffered from severe, chronic tinnitus for the past 4 years. It started when I gained 60 pounds (yikes). I started keto last week and I like it but my motivation is tapering off. This really helped give me the inspiration to move forward and keep doing it! I really hope this works. Tinnitus has ruined my day to day life.

I get more from Dr. Berg than from any doctor I have ever dealt with, they only dispense prescriptions, but Dr. Berg dispenses invaluable knowledge.

In my early teens, I remember laying in bed with my ears ringing and thinking that's what everyone's ears did in silence. I can't say specifically what caused it but I read tinnitus may be due to childhood inoculations.
I'm 72 and have learned to live with it with lots of background noise.

Dr Berg, you are so RIGHT! I have been taking Benfotiamine B1 for a couple of weeks for Interstitial Cystitis/Painful Bladder Syndrome and I just noticed today that my horrible tinnitus has almost entirely stopped! I just listened to this and at the end you tell us to take Benfotiamine. I have suffered for years with horrible tinnitus. I will be taking this supplement more regularly now as it is helping me in several ways. WOW! Thank You!

I got tinnitus through an infection in my adenoids. There are many ways to get tinnitus that are nothing to do with insulin.

There's definitely a correlation, back when I was eating healthy I only ever had very mild non-intrusive tinnitus, but when I stopped and basically started eating everything and anything it gradually increased. I do think the nervous system plays a large role. Going to try and go back to keto and OMAD to recover

You are so RIGHT on this. My mother had tinnitus and later her provider said that she was pre-diabetic. Thank you for your video and telling us to inform the provider to check fasting insulin levels to "see if it's high." It's unfortunate that most providers don't do this as routine. I'm going to reduce my carb load and eat more protein. I can't do intermittent fasting because I take NSAIDS daily and I need to take it with food.
