How to Force Delete a File That Can't Be Deleted on Windows 10 and Windows 11

In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to force delete a file that won’t delete on your Windows computer.

This issue can be seen when you try to delete a file on your computer, and the progress bar just keeps repeating back and forth, and the file never actually deletes.

In today’s example, I’m going to delete a file from my desktop.

*Getting started:*
1. As you can see on my screen, I have a file on my desktop called “example123” and it’s a text file.
2. To force delete this file, go into the Windows start bar, and type in “Command Prompt” and click on the “Command Prompt” application to open it up.
3. For today’s command, we’re going to start it by entering "del" space "/", then the letter "f".
6. Now when I hit the enter key on my keyboard, you’ll see that the file on my desktop is deleted.

And it’s as easy as that, using command prompt to force delete a file from your computer is a simple task to perform.

This helped, thank you. McAfee said a file that was fine to begin with said it was a major virus. And it wanted me to contact them, talked to someone and they wanted Remote Access which I was like 'fuck no' and went to check their website which says themselves you should never do this so. Said this to the 'rep' and they're like "Trust me, won't do anything bad" And ended it.

what if i want to delete a file that isn't a text? like for example a LGHUB file, where inside it has the app agent and updater and ofcourse texts and such, what name do I enter in order to delete it? and when i mean file i mean the small yellow file, you know.

If the file is on a shared drive, unshare it then delete the file and reshare the folder or drive

Hi, my computer says it can't find the file although I did exactly as you said and put the right name in the command bar. Also my PC crashes everytime I try to delete the video, I can't move it into the trashbin either, do you know what's wrong?😢

Edit CMD freezes too when I try deleting I put .mp4 behind the name and it seemed to have found the file but, even CMD can't delete it😭 Is there another way?

How to delete a folder what's name is 1 word but there is a space after the word?
"Pictures_" the underline is the space.
Do you know a program or smth bc all CMD and PowerShell command says the folder can't be found.
