Should you pay more? Best PS4 Controller

The best PS4 Controllers compared, both cheap and pro! Do you really need either instead of a dualshock 4 though? The Hori Mini gamepad or the Scuf Impact?

Kevin, you forgot about the Nacon Wired Compact Controller, which is also officially licensed by Sony, fits into the average price range of a Dualshock 4, and is currectly my favorite. Also, the HORI Mini Wired Gamepad is actually awesome if you just add analog grips to it, but yeah, the form factor is weird.

I only use PowerA controllers. They have an Xbox elite controller with interchangeable sticks and the back buttons for only $40 bucks. Been using them for a few years now. Solid controllers.

That mini PS4 controller from HORI reminds me of the original Wii Classic Controller, at least when it comes to design.

How about just a "wired" regular Dual Shock 4. The charge input on the controller is for lack of a better term F'ing garbage as it wears out rapidly because it doesn't hold the cord securely and the battery life is far substandard on top of that.

I'm on PC and the DS4 is as good as it gets when it comes to pc-compatible controllers.
the customization is practically endless (via Steam and/or DS4Windows)

the Original PS4 controller is a perfectly fine choice

I would not bother replacing it unless if it were with a Dual shock 3.
but sony won't allow Dual Shock 3s on PS4 without an adapter (so bothersome)

One thing thats become quite important since I bought streetfighter V and MK11 is the quality of the d'pad, it seems to be one big weakness on the DS4. You have other options like the Hori fighting commander and the MKX fightpad (which I own and is a bid dpad improvement) and that mad catz fightpad as well.

i've heard horrible things about scuff controllers always breaking and people having a ton of issues with them and they are pretty expensive... i never owned one but i still debate about getting one of those...

If you want a pro controller on the cheap, just go with the Collective Minds strike pack for DS4. Just clips on the back of any DS4 and adds those 2 extra triggers. Only $40 and once the DS4 eventually wears out, just take it off and throw it on another new DS4.
