Definitely Forester!!! Turbos are faster, but so is the WRX1!! If one wants speed, OK, if one wants reliability & gas mileage & good off road ability, that's another! When Subaru offered the Turbo in the Forester, it sold less than 5% to the public!! Enough said!

I got that Outback right when it came out. It’s AWESOME! Super comfortable and great ride. Stop and go cruise with steering changed my commute frustrations!

I have the 2024 Outback Onyx naturally aspirated and am perfectly fine with it. I drive it conservatively and it just seems to be a good fit!

I’m strongly leaning towards the Forester. I’ve had my fill of turbo engines, so I want the higher reliability of the regular engine. I’m tall and standing next to forester seems like it fits better. There are several other things, but yea…. Thanks for the comparison. Very helpful!!

If you want your Wilderness for real off-road rugged Wilderness stuff, you'll be more comfortable in the Forester. For just about everything else, it's more comfortable in the Outback.

Ben, you need to be in (S)port mode and then you can see it has great torque and acceleration. I own one and it is a very peppy vehicle up to the initial 40 mph. Anything over and it's a slightly slower climb to the higher speeds, but it's definitely not slow.

I think it's more than enough for the average buyer. Anything more, and people have a lead foot, seriously. These vehicles aren't meant for racing. It was built for light off-road adventures and even winter weather.

The AWD system is second to NONE in its class. I love mine. I would also recommend a Mazda CX-5 non turbo for this price bracket. Great vehicles.

Great comparison! Pretty sure i'm doing Forester Wilderness as i prefer the boxy suv look and the shorter vehicle will fit better where i live and park.

My wife has a '16 forester, we absolutely love it but are in the market for a new car in the future. I've noticed that driving the forester the visibility out of it is incredible, it's like driving a bubble with close to no blind spots. Have had rav4 rental, as well as my mother has a crv, and both of those the visibility is much more restricted, muvh bigger blind spots and we really did not like the other 2. That being said, the physical body design although the looks have changes over the years the main design hasn't for the forester so I'm sure it still has great visibility, but what about the outback?
My wife does want a little more room, basically for stuff in the back with having a toddler plus going grocery shopping. She was wanting a 3 row crossover such as a traverse or highlander or ascent, but we would never need the actual 3rd row seats with only 1 kid, so I'm still wanting the smaller/midsized cross/suv. I do also like the 4runner but that's another story.

Outback i believe is also 13:27 wider making 3 in back a better fit especially with 2 child seats. Aweful infotainment screen which is slow, too easy to turn on things accidentally, hard to see in sunlight and vertically set so your eyes need to adapt to an up and down motion after being horizontally focused while driving. Auto start stop is annoying and must be turned off constantly. That screen is my major complaint on my Outback.

It used to be (several years ago) that Outbacks were Legacy based, while Foresters weren't (maybe Impreza?). Wife & I have had both. She prefers her Forester Limited, i preferred the Outback Limited (which had the v6R that the turbo replaced). I will say the seating position is more uoright for me in the Forester (6'-1"), but the ride quality eas more premium in the Outback which is also heavier and somewhat less mpg

prefer the forester just due to the more SUV look...i still don't like wagons!!

Do both have a power passenger seat with lumbar, that will be a criteria in my decision.

Wife and I just looked at those exact two cars. Went with outback wilderness. Bigger, more comfortable and the turbo makes a big difference. 👍🏻

I find the review pretty good. Could you please take the audio out of accelerated mode? Or skip the red bull next time. Thanx
