clipping issues in sketchup

i forgot to mention in tip#6 Please don't use "Ctrl+A" to select your model. Make selection with SketchUp "Select" tool.

It helped me to check "Perspective" in the "Camera" menu, instead of "Parallel Projection". I have no idea why I had "Parallel Projection" checked, but in this video I noticed that "Perspective" was checked in the "Camera" menu, and that solved my problem. Thanks!

for anyone who's still having clipping issues after trying there, there is another reason for it. I just discovered it now after a lot of research. It was caused by a model from the 3d warehouse! It had some hidden things that made the model extremely large! I've been trying to unhide them but to no avail. Finally saw this feature and clicked it..under View click the Hidden Geometry. This should show the phantom models around, just click them and delete!

Yes, often I have just restart SketchUp. I have also found doing something with the camera like switching from parallel to perspective and back again, or selecting a scene (if I have one) can change camera settings enough to negate the problem.

It can be a pain though so thank you for this video.

I forgot to mention: a common scenario (for some), model too far from origin can often occur when importing DWG autocad files into SU.

Really nice that you now have shown me the way to move a model straight to the origin with the [, that was new to me.

I just found an ACTUAL fix of this issue.
Go to Camera > Advanced (it might be an extension that you have to Turn On first in Window > Extension Manager and there it's called Advanced Camera Tools. Since SketchUp is the author I think you don't have to download it).

Anyway, after clicking Advanced, a window shows up. In the bottom half of the window you have one box to tick - "Force". After ticking it, you can set the "Near" value based on your preference. Set it as low as you want. This directly tells the program to when to clip the model after zooming in.

DON"T CLOSE IMMEDIATELY after setting the value! Click any other line in this window first and then close, otherwise it won't save (you'll figure it out). After so many years...

I tried all your suggestions nothing worked. I then reduce the FIELD of VIEW under CAMERA to LESS than 35, to 8 and it worked. Thanks for the lead

Nope, the clipping issue is largely in group or component editing within urban design models. It is just the Sketchup program bug never been fixed by the developers.

Thanks, but anyway, when you work on a large scene, hole city (it happens in sketchup too), the solution is to cut the part you want to modify and paste it in a new skp file. Then paste it back to the original model
