thank you! A client keeps sending PDFs from which i have to extract some elements which are within about 20 clipping masks. I thought there must be a better way to get through them all. The CTRL ALT 7 trick worked perfectly

I've imported an image with an "opacity mask" from Photoshop. I can see no way to remove or delete the mask, so this doesn't solve my problem. Thanks though. Illustrator is exasperating!
