Notice how many "ask someone" points are there. Humble man.

It is clear that Leonardo was someone to try and understand anything and everything to it's fullest. Most of us would think about something for a second, wonder about it for another second, then forget about it in the next second. Leonardo would take that something and write it down, take some time to observe it, draw it, write everything he learned, asked anyone who knew a little bit more about, then inspire himself with it.

What’s truly remarkable about Leonardo is that his notes were written in ink, but there’s not one mistake or scratch out.

From a small child I collected every Leonardo De Vinci book I could find. I studied & replicated all of his work. My book collection was stolen one day 😢...thank you for this video. Very enjoyable

I recently found myself carrying a notebook and writing down every thought provoking idea i had. Never would have thought its also a habit of the brillaint Leonardo Da Vinci. Im inspired to continue this habit

I visited the Museum in da Vincis birthplace in the town of Vinci when driving around Italy in 1996. It had a lot of models of his drawings of inventions.
I'm past 70yo yet I am still watching things like this. I carried a notebook every day up until 2019 when I bought a smartphone of my own, not a work one.
I am reading the biography of Casanova (ebook) at the mo, I watch YouTube info channels on archaeology, mythology, geology, history, guitars, electronics, philosophy, natural history, biology, maths, science, and anything else which takes my fancy. I have always been like this. I suspect I am mildly Aspergers.
I have never understood people who lack curiosity.

"Find a master of hydraulics AND GET HIM TO TELL YOU how to repair

I wish I could've seen that interaction 🤣

Leonardo da Vinci was curious about many things. Leonardo thought about things longer than other people. He meticulously studied, observed, drew, and recorded his findings. He even sought out professionals to learn more and understand. He craved information and was motivated by his surroundings.

FYI, at 0:14, that’s Michelangelo’s David, not a Leonardo sculpture. Da Vinci was quite jealous of Michelangelo’s superior sculpting mastery, and may have even sketched a copy (erasure found in scan of notebooks).

It's important to understand, Da Vinci wasn't simply making manic, scatter-brained lists of things to do in order to distract himself or keep himself busy; all of these 'to do' items were, in some way, related to greater projects he was working on. Fill your 'to do' lists with items that are relevant and impactful to the achievement of your life goals.

Da Vinci‘s reference to “walls without loopholes” refers to the slits that are usually designed into fortified walls that would allow a marksman’s weapon such as a gun or a arrow to be shot through at an invading enemy.

I'm always writing notes...it really does work. When I read back on them occasionally I see the things I had forgotten that I wanted to do or explore.

Quite possibly the most brilliant man to ever live. His life has many aspects that we can use today.

I have carried notebooks all my life. The perspective they give is astonishing.

Nice video. I'm starting to take more notes since the last couple of years and I already have lists for the new skills I want to acquire, places I want to visit, experiences I want to have, ideas for future projects, and more... This year I started my own PKMS to organize my notes and all the content that I consume daily that I could find useful for future reference. 🤓

I love how “obtain a skull” is just casually sandwiched between “try to get Vitalone” and “get books on anatomy bound”.

This video is amazing, many thanks for making it. I listened and watched it while gathering my evening's spoils upon my chariot. I find myself a Renaissance man much like he was, of course not yet at that same caliber. On and off I've always done this, and I can say that the weeks when I had and used sketch and notebooks, made quite more sense than those without. What I would add from modern experience is the voice recordings. As in, periodically, take your phone with its voice recorder, and your books and lists and pages, and walk around the room recording from them, what there is to do. Then you can listen both as you do menial chores, so your mind can deepen knowledge of your goals and interests, OR more focused, with pen and paper in hand, listen to recording and make fresh maps and sketches of these things you listed. This process, these loops from paper to voice to paper, will help you to swiftly advance your projects, leave out or change details as needed, use repeatable recorded checklists and questions and so forth. Definitely there's something there about voice recordings, and had this been known in Leonardo's time, I'm sure he would have used it along his other methods. Thank you again for your fresh videos, hope you make more soon :)

I'm left-handed and always wrote my notes mirrored. It was probably both. It's easier for us to write like that because ink smudges like crazy. But it's also nice to know that people wont be able to see what it is at a glance; they have to concentrate if they want to read it.
