I would’ve thought because they were too expensive. Battle droids seemed to be made on the cheap (relatively speaking). It’s why they didn’t just make legions of Commando Droids or Magnaguards.

For those wondering, the manufacturing of these droids is detailed in the clone wars storyline of thrawn: alliances, and cortosis is a metal that easily disperses large amounts of energy along its surface area. Great book, and I’d recommend reading the whole series by Timothy Zahn
Edit: the location of the factory was not leaked, one of padme’s subordinates stumbles across people involved with it on Batuu and was killed. Padme and anakin picked up the subordinates trail, even enlisting the help of a young thrawn

He did not leak it to the Jedi. He leaked it to one of Padme's aides, who went to investigate it herself and never checked in, so Padme went to look for her and *also* stopped checking in. So Anakin went, IN SECRET, to rescue Padme and came across Mitth'raw'nurudo (Thrawn) en route to the planet where the factory was. Anakin only discovered it (and blew it up) because Padme was captured and held captive in the factory.

It was a VERY subtle plan to eliminate the factory without it ever leading back to him because the only person who knew the source of the info was Padme's aide, who was killed while looking for the factory.

Anyone who read the novel "Alliances" would know about this!!! Location of this factory wasn't leaked by palpatine, padme's servant duja found out about this place and called padme to meet her. After not hearing from padme for a while anakin gets weary and tries to find her by travelling to the system, where he meets thrawn for the first time and destroys the factory

Let’s not forget the upgrade to these included a second pair or rapid repeating blaster arms, the main arms given grasping vibroclaw hands and heavy laser YES laser cannons, a gravity inducer to make them immune to force push, grounding to be immune to emp grenades, a built in flamethrower and finally a pack of missile called ‘brilliant’ missiles that could well lets just say they never missed ever and could kill atte’s in pairs, the droid carried like 20 of them. Overpowered indeed.

I really wish we could have had a scene where the Jedi are planning a frontal assault on the factory but they hear engines overhead and see a bunch of bombers annihilating it while fortunate son plays.

"Star Wars: The New Droid Army" was a good GBA game that covers this exact story. Thanks for reminding me of my childhood.
