The CIS Droid Army’s Fatal Flaw - Star Wars #Shorts

Why did the Separatists need tactical droids? Initially, the CIS droid army relied on a Central Control Computer to coordinate their battle droid squads, but this turned out to be a major weakness. And they quickly discovered that B1 battle droids, while effective against civilians, were no match for trained soldiers.

After the Battle of Naboo, the B1s were upgraded to be independent thinkers. However, cost-cutting measures led to a severe drop in performance as regular maintenance and updates were skipped. Baktoid Combat Automata, the manufacturers of the Sepratist’s droid armies, then deployed tactical droids that were specifically designed to plan battle strategies and better coordinate troops on the battlefield. The early days of the war saw the use of T-series droids, but later, the Separatists deployed the ST-series with higher intelligence and better tactical analysis, mimicking the military structure of their organic opponents.

Saddest part is that they could’ve made the B1s network to each other, so they could work in perfect sync and know where everyone is at. Imagine stealth-killing one B1 and getting the message “You have alerted the horde”

I just love battledroids, they're the kinda comic relief that actually funny and endearing without being annoying and tension breaking

Would have been cool to see tactical droids in live action.

That explains why there were b1s given command positions in the movies

I keep hearing that they were upgraded [from B-1 battle droids] to B-independent battle droids. 😂

The B-1s were not present at the battle of Naboo, it was the OOM-9 security droid

they needed tactical droids specifically so we could get the legendary line of "start my shit. that hamborg is a fool!"

Fun thing was that the B-1s became so "chatty" because of it, it was a way to "vent all the excess data" and would not have happened if they had gotten regular maintenance and reboots.

The thing is, when you've got clones outnumbered 1000 to 1, you don't really need the droids to be perfect.

Im pretty sure they mention in both old and new cannon that control computers were still used to augment droid performance but that they were not totaly dependent on them, a control ship or even control computer on the ground would still help improve droid performance but they were no longer dependent on it to function, theres even a cut scene in attack of the clones where a control computer is turned off and they briefly stop before switching over to their internal droid brains, even in the clone wars show they cover this when echo is basicly plugged into the control computer network to further boost its peformnce by both useing his tactical skills to both improve deoid tactics and anticipate clone tactics

The Clone Wars were just a chess game with one person playing both sides.

And yet the only strategy we ever see them use is frontal assault and march in a square.

The writers added the command droids so that they would have a nice disposable bad guy they could kill or not, but it was almost like they kept coming back!
