Our German shepherd puts her mouth on occasionally, but has never put any pressure into it. She’s actually a very gentle soul, once she gets to know you.

My first GSD (male, uncastrated, lived to 13) bit me once, when he was about 2 and I tried to take away from him the packaging that pastrami came in before he was finished licking every single pastrami molecule from the packaging. He never got pastrami packaging again. I've had 3 more GSDs since him, all female. :P

IMHO this was a thoughtful video.. I don't have a German Shepherd Dog, but I do have a Doberman Pinscher, and I feel that the wisdom in this video applies to both these breeds and likely many more. Keep up the thoughtfulness in helping people understand their pets!

Shadow did bite me, only once, when I got her. She was 14 months old. Our bond was solid from night #1, and I became her main focus. But once, during play time, she nipped me and it left a huge bruise on my arm. When it happened, I was still in chemo and not very strong. I let out a scream and fell to my knees. She just sat, tilting her head. And that was it. Never again has she nipped, or even pushed. I also taught her 2 commands: "manners" which means she has to place herself behind me. And "back" for play time. Which means she drops the toy at my feet, and crawls back to about 2 feet from me. I have found, for me, that GSD will only have bad behavior because they have not understood it is bad....once they know the alternative that we want? They will do it everytime in order to see us happy. 🤗

My German Shepard is a little puppy. Bites me a lot and left me some marks but I always put a bit of pressure with my hand if he tries biting me til he squints. Then he learns to not bite my hand and he licks it. One thing about my puppy he hates the outside for longer than 5-10 minutes I just can’t wait til he grows. He’s already learned to sit and stop and to come to me pretty smart puppy

My four female German shepherds, I’ve been training since they were eight weeks old and has never bit me the only thing that I could say why and I can only speak for female German shepherds is that when they are not feeling well and they are very sick. They’ll growl a little, but then they’ll lick me and look up to me like take care of me, but never near biting I think the only time a German Shepherd would bite is if she had rabies or didn’t get her distemper shot or something of that nature I know one thing German shepherds are very expensive to take care of properly. The last thing I wanna say is that I let them outdoors at least every 4 to 5 hours so they can get their running and chasing the ball and playing games and activities and let them to go to the bathroom any more than five hours they get very restless, so you have to devote and sacrifice a good part of your life to properly take care of German shepherd’s I’m with my dogs at least 18 hours a day. And the rest of the time they are sleeping cause I tire them out and they tire me out as well. I can’t tell you the feeling that you get taken care of these dogs. They in my opinion are the best dogs in the world I mean all dogs are great. I just think German Shepherd’s are at the top of the mountain but all dogs are fantastic. All dogs are wonderful in their own way.❤❤❤❤

My newly acquired 20 month old male likes to mouth/bite my hands often or feet/shoes whenever I sit and put them on. I'm learning he wants to get me to play.

It all depends on if they are new (from puppy) to previously owned and possibly abused. My daughter has a shepherd mix that is wonderful around her, her girlfriends, my 15 year old son and my wife. But occasionally will snap at my hand when I attempt to pet her. Possible abuse from previous owner (man) as she got her at age 2. I just have to be aware of her sudden movements and cannot reach over her head as she may feel threatened (flashbacks to previous owner?).

While playing ball with my German Shepherd, he accidentally touched my hand with his teeth. Afterwards he cried for about half an hour because he thought he had hurt me🥹❤

Outside of real human aggression from bad breeding or chemical imbalance. No. It would take bad training or a very weak owner
